one bolt jobs with cylindrical clamp
Like this? It's a Toseek, I got it via Amazon but they are on eBay and AliX too. You'll want to change the stock bolt to one about 5mm shorter. Has survived about 30 miles with >100kg load so far. On the other hand, if you want to play safe, a Kalloy SP248 is half the price and less than 1/4lb heavier.

Yes, that clamp design but cylindrical all the way up rather than with the aero portion. Thanks for the recommendation!

I've had 3 good experiences with cn*carbon/carbon speed cycle on ebay.

My toseek I got on the other hand was supposed to be 27.2 was a fair few millimeters off. Made it unusable. Sending it all the way back to china for a refund or replacement was too expensive so it went in the bin

Their round one has a slightly different clamp

Thanks for the recommendation!
My recommendation is to get a Kalloy. Read my 464 thread for the rationale behind using Chinese crabon on that project, and buy at your own risk.

Anyone used any orient 110bcd 4-arm chainrings? Shimano replacements are £££££

French ones are good and much cheaper than OE, I wouldn't say there's anything to choose between Stronglight and TA. I assume you can also get Czech rings in modern Shimano pattern now, which would need to be a bit cheaper than the French 7075/Zicral versions to represent equal value.

TA x110 would be my choice but is still £100, I found some Doval rings for under half of that - was hoping for around that price

good source for one of those silly one piece seatpost saddle doobries? I am entering the hill climbing game and want something to slip into the track bike to replace my sensible track racing setup, which is great, but weighty for hill climbing.

for context, the track bike weights a lovely 6.8kg without brakes and some nice 50mm crabon rims. Stick a brake and a larger sproket on the rear and it starts to weigh as much as my roadbike, which sort of defeats the purpose. I've put a much lighter alu front wheel on and will swap the big ol' 144bcd dura ace cranks for something smaller and lighter but it's unlikely to break the 6kg mark without some dodgy carbon......this should be in the sub 5kg cannondale thread shouldn't it

Got the same dilemma, after comparing the ridiculous prices just decided to hunt for cranks on eBay

Change 1/8 setup for 3/32, it weights a tonne. Also usually the forks on track bikes are heavy.

They seem a fair bit cheaper than Farsports/LB for a given depth of carbon clincher with bitex/whatever hubs. Lots of noise on their ebay page though - any idea what's good and the "latest" tech?

anyone bought a beater track frame from aliexpress? any recomendations?
-
• #7243
I'd have thought it'd be cheaper to get something in classfields here.
Last time I imported a track frame the customs charge was a bomb -

Thank you!

This is the cheapest I've found. The look is pretty loud though, and I'm not convinced I'd enjoy oval rings. If you find some with compact rings and want standard, I'll swap. I bought some cranks with standard.

• #7247
I've got compact too, gearing on the GT is a bit absurd now that I have a dedicated roadie. You can have my semi-compact rings if there's any life on them

My DOVALs disintegrated after about 500km.

Really good to know, thank you
Forum approved carbon post, ideally one of the one bolt jobs with cylindrical clamp? Seen a couple in this thread but would like one that isn’t going to rip me a new one!
