Is there a copy of the Thomson Downhill handlebar?

This one scores much higher hipster points ...

FFS, buy the real thing or any one of hundreds of cheap aluminium risers. Why try and get fakes?

TACTICAL = Mall Ninja : )

Quick release is better if you need to stop for a quick Dumoulin break. Elastic better for D-lock retention.

I bought 100 brake/gear cable ferrules (£0.73 including shipping) last Monday and they arrived this morning.
I was paying £1 for 10 from Halfords.
This is the seller - http://s.aliexpress.com/Mn2eE7z2

Good price - are they decent though? I had some chinese ones and they were rubbish.
I use those, priced at £2.99:

They look the same as the ones I had been buying from Halfords.
I haven't tried crimping one to a cable yet though. Not really sure what could go wrong though?

Any good experiences with carbon cages, or should I cough up for proper ones?
-
• #7213
Never had any issues with my Chinese generic carbon cages. The unbranded one in the link above looks like a good option. Mind you, I think I paid 7 - 8 quid for mine at the time.
EDIT: Searching for "matte carbon bottle holder" on Ebay.com seems to send you straight to the bargain bin. But yeah, probably worth paying a few quid extra for the Bontrager copies.

Have got some really old ones that have gone to shit and never really held bottles properly. Especially on the seat tube. Going to get some of those Bontranger knock-offs. Had some on my old commuter and they're very effective.

I’ve used a pair of carbon Bontrager “copies” for atleast 4 years now.
They have never dropped a bottle, easy to get the bottles in and out. Still have a nice tight fit.
I say copies, the cages and packaging is the exact same as you see in bike shops.

Cheers all. Bont copies seem the most supported option...
-
• #7217
Are those bontrager copies any use with larger bottles? My current cages dont hold a full 750ml well at all. And is there much difference between the XXX and RXL ones?
-
• #7218
no... i took mine off eventually. lost a bottle here and there. the weight-trade off compared to some elite plastic/rubber jobbies is minimal, and they suck at holding bottles
-
• #7219
Mine hold bottles really well, go figure
-
• #7220
I bought these exact Bontrager bottle cages, no idea if they're genuine, the listing says they are, but they've never dropped a bottle.
-
• #7221
Have these in plain matt black of Aliexpress and they hold bottles really nicely.

Anyone able to point me in the direction of some carbon clinchers (50mm) that have decent reviews/experiences?

I use two Camelback Big Podium Chill bottles (750ml). I’ve never had a bottle drop from a cage in the 4 years I’ve being using the Bontrager copies.

great thanks, think I'll give them a go
I got them because I saw someone else had used them here. No idea how they’ll do long term - given the sage words ^^^ on forces applied to the stem (and cockpit?) : )
There are dozens of sellers punting the same shape, so I went with a cheapish 460mm option:
