I can't remember the exact cost of these originally when they first popped up - I remember thinking they were really reasonable for what they were (I think about 1700 CAD? which is about £1k).
That seems a pretty hefty mark up for an imported one - is that normal?

Yes! Love me some Hawkwind.
Off to see Thee Oh Sees and Beak in Margate on Friday night. Looking forward to some sludgy spiky fuzz and maybe a little shroomy buzz to top it all off. Wahey!

Beak - the Geoff Barrow Beak? Their first album was excellent but I didn't keep up with them.

$2600cad which is about £1700 might be what you were thinking? Still not terribly hefty for the amount of craftsmanship and detail he puts into them I think.

No, they were all less than 2000 CAD:

That's 2016 so prices have probably gone up - I thought at the time they were an absolute steal. If not, a close to 100% mark up on importing them seems... punchy.
Actually, Brexit related FX moves might have affected as well - not sure which way it would have gone though.

yup, which is the price i almost got one for - but hey ho, still good value for the level of quality

Noodly instumental with grooves? Funnily enough I had some Causa on the way into work today

Nice stuff, reminds me of The Sword minus the vocals.

My new 335 arrived and its fantastic. Had a quick quick 30 mins with it last night, unplugged, and the neck plays just right. Its also nice and dark red, rather than lairy cherry colour. Very happy.
Just need to get the pickups replaced with a pair of P90s and put the bigsby in. I'm going vibramate rather than drilling it, so I can switch around as I fancy. Can also put the bigsy on my LP that way.
Photos to come once I get time to snap some pics

I've just spotted an Ibanez Prestige RGT220A for sale for €750...
I bought one new for €2100 years and years ago and traded it for a few different things that eventually ended up as €1400.
I always wished I hadn't let it go.
Bugger. If I hadn't just bought a baritone :|

Question now is nickel p90s or black p90s?
-
• #5969
Looks ace, aren't you gonna have a problem switching to P90s from humbuckers? How will that work?
-
• #5970
Humbuckers sized p90s! Oil city do a variety of sets to fit.
-
• #5971
Ah, I see... Not an expert in this pickup changing business... So soap bars? Can't imagine dogears would work...
-

From reading up, it seems like the bobbin is a custom fit one for a humbuckers rout, so it’s a clean switch. I’ll not being doing the work myself though - hollow body pickupnwiring is the equivalent of keyhole surgery!

Chrome or nickel covers, I reckon - black seems to fit more with the dot-neck era. Mind you, chrome with black inserts on the tops might look nice.
Gah, loading the Oil City website always gives my browser a heart attack.

Chrome surrounds with a black bobbin? They have that as an option. I’ll have to look at pictures and see what looks best

Is this Allen bolt a truss rod? I tried adjusting it but nothing really happened. Action is so high on this guitar that I can't play barre chords for more than a minute. Have already filed down nut and bridge as far as I dare

I've long long wanted a Hiwatt. Due to my circumstances, a LoWatt would be closer to the reality.
Colorsound pedals always put me in mind of Dave Brock.
