Cap #60 Alan has scratched - possibly with a broken frame?

• #2378
Mine look like that and regularly fail!
I obviously don't ride enough then!

He met Christoph #146 who is doing the TCR with sandals... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jp5Zoq7JV5E

^ Hope he doesn't get arrested for filming at a border crossing, LOL.

I'm looking at #20 now - he seems to be a bit lost...

@MisterTomTom seems to have had a second thought and returned to a village..? Hopefully nothing to serious.
Edit: maybe a tracker blip or nothing serious as he seems on his way again now.

Nice ninja-edit

No issues here, must be the tracker. Looks like @DiscoPotato and my routes are a bit different from the rest of the pack.

Some interesting snippets here, especially re. Thomas Dupin & Rene Bonn : https://www.transcontinental.cc/racereport/2018/8/7/race-report-8-tcrno6

Skinny now about 50 miles to go.
Tempting to think 'just 50 miles' but every one of them has to be ridden. My experience was that they were the hardest of all as brain and legs are craving rest but it can't happen yet. I went a bit crazy at this point in my TCR. At one point I got off and started walking as I simply couldn't believe I had further to go.
Skinny is used to it and probably won't freak out as much but it will still be tough. He'll have to earn that beer he'll be having later this evening! -

Rene bonn might not have done the parcours so race for third is thrown open again
-
• #2388
Is he still on that fucked tyre?
Looks like he could walk from where he is and still win to be fair.

• #2389
Walking 50 miles over difficult undulating terrain in cycling shoes while pushing a bike exhausted and sleep deprived in 35+ degrees of heat is not something I would wish on anyone.

Was there a gallery of the riders and their bikes somewhere? Maybe on Facebook?

I saw a hint somewhere that Bjorn may not have completed the CP3 parcours properly. Something about his tracker data suggested that his blown tyre happened on the way down - he turned and walked back up without ever reaching the bottom of the climb. That would be grim news after what he's been through and I hope he's got some other proof - photos or somesuch.

In Greece you can find a 700c tyre, very easily at near by cities.
The economical crisis is not that deep...Definitely he can find one at Grevena, a few kilometres away.

#162 safe and sound. Calling it at a day in Banja Luka and doing a very early start tomorrow. He's been following the race blog, so he bought some shoes yesterday, for walking to the summit of Bjelasnica :-).
However, I feel very sorry for #20 - he lost a couple of hours on hilly local roads (taking a "shortcut") only to get on the dreaded wrong route, that of Bjorn and #148. Well, there's still hope, providing he makes a RH turn soon...

Stephane and Thomas have lost many places from their high positions yesterday. Turned around very quickly.

Enjoying some of the videos they are putting out at last, some of the drone shots are epic

Oh dear.

Around 25km to go and he is currently averaging around 26 kph but that will drop on the final parcours. Should finish around 8pm our time.
He must be able to smell it now.

Ah, I thought I'd miss the dot-watcher's holy grail moment when the dot appears at the finish for the first time, but James seems to have had to go more slowly today. I can't imagine for one second how hot it must be in Greece, let alone how to ride a bike in those temperatures. Where I am it was apparently the hottest day of the year, stifling and baking hot, and I bet it's still not as hot as down there.
Alexandre #148 speaking about the RR440 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2eaNrolvcQ
He says he was not taking the right road and at night a bosnian told him he shouldn't continue. He stayed at his place (schnapps and generator for electricity, all the clichés we could have on bosnian countryside) and make this video on the morning after 15km on this road. But he seems ok with it :)
