Seeing a little performance drop from Craig. Maybe those hills are getting to him. little decline in speed/time appearing.
Bjorn however:

craig posted on his IG account that he was having bad knee pain as a result of having put reflective bands on his legs (somehow)

That's the first 24 hours done with 21 of them in the saddle for me. Siffering some severe speed fatigue but holding my position by plugging away. Have been over taken multiple times by the same people, either my strategy is working or I could be taking longer breaks.

If you keep getting overtaken by the same people that's a good sign. You are keeping up with faster riders by stopping less - well done!

Interestingly Bjorn L followed the main route down the valley.
I routed the way that Bjorn went. Skinny's route is a bit shorter but a lot more climbing!

On the TABR thread @hippy said he configured his for an infrequent update interval deliberately to save batteries.
Looks like he has overdone it: he is having a few dropouts where there is no tracking for a couple of hours.
He is doing a lot better though - climbed about 50 places since lunchtime - now in the top 50.

Hippy is now more of less level with Paul Alderson. He is one of the fast guys I've sometimes met on audaxes (most often saying hi as he passes me on a climb). He is in the hard tradition of cycling - having done TCR 3 just a few weeks after breaking his jaw. I'd expect him to move up the field a bit.

@frank9755 are you an official dot watcher this year?

Are you turning in to Mr no stops!?
I was expecting a cake report. -

Hope you're back on the road soon!

thought i'd see more folk heading south to Basel along the Rhine but I guess people (so far, lots of mid-back of the pack folk to come) are taking the shorter, hillier route

Started off really well, then came the punctures. Rim tape related. Rims are only 1000km old. Removed rim tape and Retaped with insulation tape but the munching of tubes continued. I'm off to get some 28s tomorrow.
Amazing times. Lovely people, great weather. Going to the bike shop tomorrow for 9am then gonna smash it. I've been awake since 6am Sunday morning so need a good sleep tonight.
Came accross some sort of Belgium forest ravae last night where they were playing a techno version of Wonderwall. At least I think I did. -

Brouter suggests that up to Bielerhöhe from Strasbourg you'd save 400m climbing at cost of 75km more distance. Six and two threes?

Surely no contest, 400m of climbing has to be quicker than 75km.

It's all about the one handed ice cream eating on the bike, baguette in stem bag and top tub bag of sweets.

No, I didn't apply to be a volunteer as I was meant to be riding, until a few weeks ago

Good thought, but I ran the numbers on that variation but it doesn't work. A lot longer and you still have to do some hills towards the end

Excellent. You'll find some great parties in Albania!

Bernd Paul (cap 15) parachuted 260km ahead according to TrackLeaders?
+++ lush, dark, tall forests. Prefer it to the sun-baked alpes further south. I remember it being sparsely populated too.. rolling through farm land and up tiny roads. <3
