  • I'm good with that. But from what I've heard the continent has wetter, colder weather. There was flooding in southern Poland for example.

  • If you'd made it to serbia (no dig) it would have been, 55deg!

  • Both times I've done the big Italian climbs it's been the middle of the night. Great for heat, not so great for scenery.

  • I quite liked Serbia. Would go back. quickly reroutes

  • if i do the tcr again i will seriously consider riding primarily at night.

  • I wonder if they'd ever consider running it in September - less traffic on the road and temps not as crazy.

  • You get used to it, but yes that's a good stratgey many do adopt.

Being thin and tall makes it easier to cope.

  • Are you trying to make it easier? Maybe touring would be better... ;)

  • 4013.9 km
    41345m

Although that 13km is legitimately a detour into liechtenstein to add another country to the list.
Happy to trade a bit of distance for what should hopefully be quieter roads
    (and legal borders)

  • Everything you do is easier, bastard, but you just wait for the zombie apocalypse. I'm winning that one.

  • I thought about the Lick detour but I've done enough miles (and have a feeling I've been there before already).

  • Maybe it was Luxembourg?

    Same thing.

    aka Switzerland Sweden

  • Tools. Think I've just about got it covered. What's the go with the gorilla tape. Wrap it round the pump or take the whole thing?

  • You win drinking. I have a shandy and I'm ruined.

  • Wrap the tape around the pump.
    2 levers is fine.
You tubless? I take 4 tubes + lots of proper patches.
    Good pump.

  • well i've got the tall part...

as for easier, i'm going for the TAWR next year which is shorter but not too much easier, from what i've heard. I probably fare better in the rain than in the heat, though.

  • Also, I have more fat stores so when the food runs out after Brexit I'm good to go.

  • Take the whole lot, obviously.

Also, take at least four house bricks. You'll need to leave one at each CP.

Those Lezyne patches are shit if the air is moist or cold. I hope you have proper patches/glue. Only one spare tube? Oh, are you tubeless? In which case you'll need even more tubes than tube tyre users and probably spare tyres and a follow car. :)

  • The lack of variety in your zip ties bothers me, but perhaps not as much as the variety in the tyre levers.

  • 2 levers is fine.

    I take three.. because temper.

  • Tape around a pen lid

Good point re the patches. Will get some proper ones tomorrow. There's two tubes there. Will take a third if it fits. :)

  • last year i strapped an extra tube between my two seat stays with plenty of gorilla tape. 2 birds, one stone

  • Wish I'd taken a bit of time off work to sort all out. Electrical stuff.
Have dynamo lights on bike. Two additional rear lights (one battery and one USB) and one additional front.
Got a quad lock mount for the phone too and purchased another small power bank today for emergencies. Will charge powerbank from dynamo during day. Need some batteries for the tracker.
