  • You may or may not have seen but I've had to sell loads of stuff to get to the starting line. Poor financial planning in this respect on my part. Poor tyre purchasing choice on my part. The thought of spending another £60.00 doesn't appeal so am going to roll with what I have. A decision I'm sure I'll live to regret but necessary :(

  • This shit is a money pit. I already have everything but because I've worn it out, broken it or lost it, I've spent another £350 since TABR on parts and kit. I could've given you my old tyres.
Found my rear rim has a dent on it this morning. I'm going to pretend I didn't see it..

  • How do you tear a sidewall in France?

    Conti GP4000?
Mine tore itself while I was in the road house

  • 25s are fine.
I used them on TCR 2016. Lots of others did too.

  • Yeah, France is cooler until you get right down south. Balkans is warm. Czech Rep, Hungary usually pretty warm in August: continental climate

  • That's kinda my point, looks like people didn't get pinged when there was no sign on street view.
I'm on phone so not looked at your links properly

  • Do you guys take local currency or just euros and Visa?

  • Just got mine out from atm at the first town I stopped in. Handy to have euros as emergency payment, but didn't need to use them for that.

  • Are the 25's unused? I'll need to but a pair of 25's at some point, so if you do want to order some 28's, I'll take them off you.

  • More gravel this year though.

  • Don’t worry - you’ll be fine on 25s. I used them in ‘16 and used 23s in ‘15 and that included Strada dell’Assesetta.

  • I've not looked at the parcours, but I managed to find a good bit of gravel in 2016!

  • What about sleeping bag, pad, no bivvy? How often are you out in the full open in the rain?

  • A note of caution

Those posts have quite a high service interval. When they flex they grind down the carbon assembly paste and can then slip. You may need to take assembly paste and a torque wrench.

    However they are amazingly comfy.

  • It doesn't usually rain much on TCR, ie in Eastern / Southern Europe in August.
If it is raining most people either find shelter / hotel or keep riding until it stops.

  • OK, thanks for the heads up. I got a sachet in the box with it so that's an easy fix, probably will forgo the torque wrench but can ask a bike shop on route if required!

  • Most people racing this aren't >90kg with a history of horrific gooch destruction.

  • I wouldn't be out in the rain. My bivvy isn't waterproof anyway.
If I had a more durable bag, that would be a good combo. I normally run the pad in my bivvy though when I'm doing audax to protect it a bit.

  • LOLocopter.

Except the whole months worth of rain that dropped on top of me in 6hrs before Pluzine that time...

  • 3880k / 41,209m

  • For what its worth, very similar to what we have too

  • I've just spent a few hours avoiding a Warning road and a banned tunnel (added maybe 35k, lost a couple hundred climb). Now looking at some heatmaps and wondering why no one is using the road I'm on, so will probably go around it on some smaller roads, adding some more distance.

Okay, not no one but only blue lines no red lines. Hmm.. can't see any no bikes signs

  • Not sure if route planning or riding my bike at all this weekend is likely to make my TCR faster...

  • I’ve put 100 hours on mine and it’s been fine. Just lube it and torque it and should be fine. Use some tape to mark the height, that way you’ll know if it moves as tape will crumple.

  • Romesh in Albania on TV now...
