ONE MONTH TODAY!!!
Fuck.
-
• #803
How are they marked? Line through a bike or something?
Do they have bike path alternatives or can I just avoid Germany to make life easier?
-
• #804
It is only the 313/312 in Pfullingen as far as I can see in Germany and my route goes nowhere near there anyway.

Thanks.
This will help when I start my route planning in a couple of weeks...

The warning of SS13 close to CP2 is new, no? Was planning on taking the 111 then ride south on the SS13 and onto the SS54.

Wasn't the SS13 banned last year?
Hmm, maybe that was the SS12 which had bike path alt.
-
• #809
I thought it was a ban and had routed around it into the next pass to the east.
Looked closer today since it is now a 'warning' and I think you can head that way.
There's as parallel road on the north side of SS13 that looks useful and bypasses banned/warned section -

Looking at the Locations map up there ^^^^^ how on earth do you lot choose the route? As a #dotwatcher I'm wondering what criteria do you use? eg hills, big roads, small roads, scenery, direct route etc. I had a look at CP1 and the run into it and when zooming in to small town level the amount of choices are bewildering.

I’m not talking about tcr banned, but German local authority banned.

No. of pubs per km

Yeah, so what I mean is, what's the symbol in Germany that says you can't use a road? How are you identifying they're non-cycling roads?
-
• #814
I'm surprised you get out of Belgium each time tbh...
-
• #815
How can you see the signs when there is no Street View in Germany?
-
• #816
I'm surprised I make it to the start!
-
• #817
I'm remote piloting a drone along my route.

Didn't we have this discussion last year?
Actually, it may have been while you were riding.
-
• #819
Starts here, I think:

It's moderately complicated (and you weren't riding).

Dr Hippy says Mr hippy is fine.
4000 miles across the US the month before means if something was gonna kill him it should've already happened so you're in the clear.

Bike is pretty much ready now, gave it a little test ride to St Abbs from Edinburgh this weekend which is a beautiful cycle if you are in the area. Feel like I've done some good training, done some longish rides and spent a lot of time on the Watt bike doing harder stuff. A little bit of apprehension starting to creep in, mainly around the route and all of the common unknowns. Racing as a pair, just hope we are still friends afterwards!
