Had a bit of a mental one last night - not in UK so no Roadsafe. On my way home I get the closest possible pass by some yuppie cunt in an Audi. I catch him up at the next lights, give him some mouth and position myself in front on his nearside to wait for the light.
I feel a tap on my back wheel - look around and he's rolled a couple of feet and my tyre is caught on his number plate. I unwedge my bike and tell him that I'm calling the cops. He starts to try to maneuver out but is boxed in by traffic in the other lane and me still in front of him, so he decides to take the soft target and keep rolling into me until I decide my legs aren't worth the fight. Jumps a red and off he goes.
The police said they would "have a word with him". Yeah, right.

I would have reported it to the police like it was the start of a terrorists attack, you can’t be too careful.

Or, you know, just say woman. Person if you're paranoid .

Next time I’ll stealth edit. Probably still in trouble for assuming gender or some other non-PC issue.
Oh good grief. No one gets in trouble for assuming someone's gender, just don't refer to someone as being of a gender that you know they aren't.
Also no one refers to something being 'PC' or not unless they hate the concepts it alludes to. The rest of us just call it "not being an arsehole".

As a Baz, I'm offended you've used my name in such a way, we aren't all pricks.

• #8232
I assumed you were.

Got clipped on the arm by the mirror of a motorcyclist as I stopped for a red light in Brixton this morning and he amber-gambled it.
Tosser.

I got a close pass/cut up by the driver of a lorry on York Way last night, which was not only dangerous, but was an utterly pointless manoeuvre since he had to stop literally a few metres further on anyway. Normally, I am content to give a driver an earful for low-level dicketry, and I did enquire as to what he was thinking, but I am also going to report this one since it was a really fucking dangerous move by a “professional” driver. The question is whether I contact the company which operates the lorry in the first instance, or just go straight to the police reporting process, or do both? Any views?

do both

yesterday had some utter bellsniff pull the most ridiculous attempt at an overtake and aggresively beep, when i asked him what he's beeping at he dismissively said "i'm not beeping you, i'm beeping her".
see if you can figure it out...

and through the red light to boot!

and he actually stopped me making the light on green because i had to slow down because he was acting so erratically.
note also there's a white van stopped at the lights directly in front of the two female cyclists

Talking of bad driving. My 10 year old niece was hit by a van on her way cycling to school on Tuesday.
She came out of her friend's driveway without looking and into the road however police have said her injuries are consistent with being hit at above 40mph though there is no physical evidence as far as I know. This was just before 9am on "School Road"...
She has broken her skull on both the front of her head and at the rear, broken both sides of her lower jaw, both cheekbones, nose, lost several teeth and inhaled one, split the roof of her mouth in two of which one side has collapsed making eating and drinking currently impossible and has a blood and CSF leak in her nose. Currently she has lost sight in her right eye and feeling on the right side of her face but we're hopeful that this will improve and is down to the swelling.I've read some pretty horrific crashes and accidents in the news and on this forum but I can't explain the feeling when it happens to someone you care about.
Why can't people just not drive like dick heads ffs. -

Oh God, that is utterly horrific. :(

Its been a tough couple of days. She's stable and will be fine eventually but a long road to recovery ahead.
Doctors have said for a girl of her age, she has one of the highest pain thresholds they've seen. First thing she asked for when she got to hospital was a lasagne. -

This is horrific to read, I can't imagine how you and family must be feeling. I hope her recovery is as smooth as possible.
-
• #8243
This is shocking! Glad she is young and will recover well. Still hard to read.
-
• #8244
fuck .. thats horrible Phil, hope she recovers quick.
-
• #8245
Feel a bit sick reading that :(
Hope her condition improves soon.

Thanks all. Trying to keep my mind of it, but then I feel bad about doing that.
She's a proper little trooper, we're all very proud.
My sister is self employed so whilst its not ideal, it means she can stay with her in the hospital 24/7.
Though I don't imagine anyone would care about work in this scenario anyway. -

Best wishes to your niece Phil . Made me feel queasy just reading about it, so can't imagine what it's like for her and for you all.

You don't want to see the picture then

And what was she doing that required beeping?! She certainly wasn't on fire. What a prick.
I had some chunt tear up behind me, beep several times, overtake whilst revving to shit, to only have to stop at a red light 20 metres up ahead. I was in primary as we were coming up to the lights and there was cycle box. He stopped in the cycle box (a fineable offence). When I asked what he was beeping at he went mental. Shouting and screaming, cyclists this, cyclists that, how they think they own the road (coming from the man who was beeping me to get his way) and they're all arrogant (again, beeping me because he believes he has a superior right to be there over me). Then threatened to get out and beat me up (another actual offence). Add that with the harassment on the road (possible offence). When the lights changed he tore off and I saw him cut up someone else on bike further up the road.
These wankers are on the roads and terrorise people on a daily basis.
I've had many encounters which have included harassment and threats of violence, let alone deliberate bullying (taxi overtook a lorry and came at me head on and when I didn't move called a wanker :/ ) and use of a vehicle as a weapon.
Because of all this shit that goes on daily I now have a camera on my bike. Just the rear currently.Apologies for the rant.
