  • Just saying hello before the trip. See you on Wednesday!

  • Ah good to know! Thanks.

  • So the Arkose is gonna get ready for Scotland, however since I'm going to Spain in June, I'm thinking about fitting my low trail fork from my Elephant to the Arkose, so I can have a front rack to carry a little more stuff.

    This Hope 1.5 to 1 1/8 crown race seemed like a great solution to run a straight 1 1/8 fork on a tapered steerer;

No reason why it shouldn't work, right? (apart from going from flat mount/thru axle to IS mount/QR).

  • Althought I plan to get the Seven Matador fork with 55mm rake (Pinnacle's own fork is 50mm).

  • I think @psee ran a 1 1/8th fork in a 44mm headtube with one of these. Worked fine afaik

    Edit:

  • Yeah. No issues whatsoever. Planning on doing the same on the new bike for touring duties.

  • I've seen some extra thick bearings that cover the gap from 1 1/2 to 1 1/8. Basically do the same.

  • Yeah, can’t see why not, I have a fork with 65mm rake, so will handle better off road with a bigger front load than my existing set up.

  • Nice guards Ed (and the rest..looking good)

  • Those bars what are?

  • Thank the seven gods you have the foresight to put a bottle cage mount under the downtube!

  • If you mean me, Salsa Cowbell, the newer one have 68mm reach which is perfect with those long hydraulic levers and a modest 115mm drop (old one is 76mm and 120mm).

46cm c-t-c is a lots of fun on the road even.

  • And only a slight flare.
    Interesting.
    Thanks Ed.

  • And only a slight flare.

    12 degrees flare, indeed.

that exactly why I liked it, it feel very much like a road drop, and happy to run them on a road bike, as the flare itself made it more comfortable to ride in the drop without your wrist getting in the way of the bar near the hood.

  • been looking at a new bike (exciting last new bike i bought was in 2006 ) arkose, Norco search, specialized diverge....Arkose may be hard to get here so would have to pay extra for shipping. anything similar I have missed.

  • Arkose may be hard to get here

Where are you and what do you want the bike to do?

  • can arkose take a front rack?

  • based in HK looking for a do it all bike, 1 bike in 3, Road cycling a bit of dirt track simple xc and the abilty to put a rack in for basic tour, and camping.
I'm doing a tour of Oninowa in Nov all road cycling. but for future tours looking for dirt track basic xc camping trip.
    Also like the Ribble RCG.

  • Road, dirt, XC, tour, camping - that's 5 bikes.

  • No. Mid fork mounts are for guards only

  • ok, road bit of not road the ability to carry something the back of i need too. is that a bit better. ?

  • Some sort of monstercross thing? Or is that too slow on the road?

  • No mid fork guard this year even.

  • Get an arkose with gears.
