Getting pretty excited about this.
Was watching a replay of the 2010 Tour of Flanders last night where Cancellara calmly pulled out a 300m lead over Boonen up the Muur.
Many people had to walk up it fully laden with TCR kit? ? -
• #729
People ride it. I only saw one or two walking who had had to stop to avoid a collision.
There are some great videos of the TCR starts, some shot by riders and others by spectators. A quick youtube search will find them. They are worth watching as part of the mental preparation! -

422W - that's a couple of matchsticks burned!
I just looked at my segment and I took almost 2 minutes longer than your time.
To my surprise it says I was actually faster than @hippy as ISTR he overtook me around there - but it must have been just before the climb that he passed, and then eased off. Or stopped for a rest. -

Yeah, see also metho for guitar fingers.
I've not heard of Pro-Shield or Siopel. Something else fun to google.
I normally wait until day five to seven and then use a cheese grater to remove the congealed skin, blood, chamois cream and duct tape and then reapply...

2 short videos of the start last year. I was standing on the steepest part of the Muur:

My Igaro has been mounted externally for three years. It was a prototype though and it gets hot if it's in a bag (it was designed for touring speeds not racing).

Yeah, Garmin are supposed to be waterproof too...
Slowly lowering something into a glass of water is not the same as riding through a killer Montenegrin storm..

Pacing >>> Muur KOM

I take it easy. It's a 12 day race (for me).
If I wanted to swing my dick on the Muur it'd be during the Ronde ride for plebs.

Not much. Really doesn't any difference in the long run. Plus I'd rather be at the front and be gone, than risk being knocked over or such. Safest.

Imagine that, some chopper falls over onto my and I break my collarbone. Think I'll spend the extra watts.
-
• #740
You can also do that at the back, without going 400W.
Actually, for me to ride up that it's more like 600W. -

Well done on your weekend efforts! How are you feeling today?
-
• #742
Like three days is too long to leave my email and twitter unread.
-
• #743
Sure - I took it really slowly, got passed by loads of people and was surprised many people took it slower than I did! I'll back off even more next time.
-
• #744
I probably got lost...

Had my leave approved! Not that it was ever really going to be declined but still, one less hurdle.
Wheels are currently with Arup being built (new front with SP Dynamo) and rear being relaced with the strongest spokes known to man, aptly named Sapim Strong.
This bike IS the Ship of Theseus. -

Despite having booked my Eurostar some time ago, I've just gotten round to booking my bike.
It's having to travel the day before at 4.30pm as it's the fucking TDF final stage in Paris on the 29th. Something for you all to consider if you're less organised than me. -

I only just dropped a month and a half off in the calendar the other day. I don't even think half the people here get the notices. dealwithit.gif

I’m flying into Brussels and pedalling over.
Then cycling to Amsterdam to go home so ignore me mostly.

Going out via Thess this time instead of Athens, with some beach time up north somewhere beforehand hopefully.

Same here. Booked the family to fly into there and will meet them there for beach action somewhere relatively close. Convinced Emma to not fly out with a suitcase but instead, cram everything into my bike bag so I can fly my bike back in the bag and a cheap suitcase out there.
Bike being built up today, wheels done. Getting close now, Meridian Hills tomorrow. Everything falling into place nicely. EasyJet was surprisingly economical from Luton.
Ride above the waterline.
