  • Plug: if anyone is interested in a L 2012 giant trinity frameset with a scuffed chainstay I am selling one v.cheap if I can get rid of it soon!

  • It is very quick, as a comparison you get an effective CdA reduction of about 80% of what you get by riding the V718. Bit busy though, last time I rode I got buzzed a few times.

  • Looks like I've got a ride. Except...

"Due to ongoing roadworks on the A50 at Uttoxeter it is not possible to use the normal
A25/11 course. The A25/11R consists of two circuits using the A50."

  • Anyone got a GPX of the A25/11'R' course or is it a one off?

    A25/11R
Start in Main Street, Etwall 20yds NE of Burnaston ‘village only’ sign at road gulley. Proceed to Seven Wells roundabout where left (1 st exit) onto A516 westbound to second of two
    roundabouts at Willowpit Lane, Hilton.

Take second exit and follow A50 westbound ACROSS one roundabout to take sliproad signed A515 Ashbourne (8.3miles). To roundabout where turn right, pass under A50, to next roundabout where turn right to take sliproad up onto A50 and retrace eastwards to take A516 Derby West turn off (15.6miles). At bottom of sliproad turn RIGHT at roundabout , under A50, then right at next roundabout to take second exit on to A50.
Continue westwards on A50 to A511 turn off. Keep left, over A50, left at roundabout to rejoin A50 eastwards (20 miles). Retrace to A516 Derby West turn off where take second exit at
roundabout, along A516 to Seven Wells roundabout where take 1 st exit (Heage Lane ) to finish at telegraph pole no. TP004088 (25 miles).

    A25/11:
start level with gully by road sign in derby road, etwall, approximately 50 yards before roundabout.
left (1st exit) at roundabout and follow a 516 westbound to second of two roundabouts at willowpit lane, hilton.

take second exit and follow a50 westbound across two roundabouts to a50/b5030 roundabout at uttoxeter (outside little chef and mcdonalds). encircle roundabout and retrace on a50 eastbound to take hilton (a516) exit to willowpit lane roundabout where take second exit onto a516 to finish 150 yards past ashe lane etwall.

  • What event is using that? There's an A25/11 variant that comes off at the A515 junction and turns around at Doveridge but I don't know the code.

  • So basically, join A50 as usual, turn around at second roundabout under A50 to rejoin A50, back to where you joined, back under the A50 to head West again, turn at first roundabout and finish as usual.

    Lot of faff that.

  • I can't visualise it. I'm going to have to fuck about drawing it aren't I? FFS.

I don't want to spend another bunch of my life in a car to ride a pile of shit. Where's the ebike website...

  • Yeah, good luck with that one @hippy !!

  • Any suggestions for technique on U turns / mini roundabouts?

I think I'm losing lots of seconds by taking them too slowly.

Is it just a matter of practice until I find the line between victory and a big slidey crash?

  • Haven’t given it much thought but I guess practice makes perfect. I’ve only ever ridden RABs at full speed while racing, so I’ve probably only done it a handful of times. Find a quiet test RAB and do loads of U turns, even better, a pair of RABs. You’ll be confident finding your line after a dozen goes.

When we go to Majorca it takes me a couple of days before I find my line decending hairpins.

  • I think I'm losing lots of seconds by taking them too slowly.

Measure the area under the graph, you'll find you're not losing as much as you think.

  • True. More likely I'm just slow everywhere :-)

  • Puncture on the start line. Ffs.

Honestly the thing I have nightmares of happening.

  • Well it's happened now so the nightmares should stop... :)

With the push to faster and faster tyres there's going to be more risk of them failing.

  • At least you didn’t break your collar bone on the way back to the HQ.... AND get roundly beaten by @cjr

  • What happened? Bit dizzy after the race and ran off the road into a ditch? Parked car? Dog?

  • Spent after an effort and just pulled on the front brake too hard - over the bars. Just replaced the ultra-light Plant X CNC front brake with a real dual pivot one so that’s what probably made the difference.

Last time I was in Homerton Hospital it was the left CB. I’m getting a name for myself.

  • You have a TT bike with brakes that work?!

  • If by work you mean throw me off my bike.

  • Well yeah, I mean, I don't think doing that is physically possible on my TT bike.

  • Bollocks. Sorry man. That sucks.

  • ABS innit
