Met a guitar nerd neighbour last night. Things are looking up!

I modded one of my fuzz pedals tonight, the one I bought off @rickster last year to be precise... Was a bit annoying that the batteries kept getting drained while it was on my pedalboard as there's no 9v socket in it... So I picked up a 9v battery clip, drilled a small hole in the enclosure and Bob's your uncle... Works great!!
Bit ghetto but the guy I was talking to about doing the job properly was gonna go a very complicated route to do exactly the same thing... Will I die?

In other news, new strat day isn't happening... Seller has mysteriously refunded me my cash after I sent a couple of emails asking where the guitar was...

Too much of a bargain!
I don't know of any successful buying or selling on reverb. -

Very strange... Just as well, was gonna flip it straight away cuz my laptop died a couple of days after I bought it!

Bin on a Hendrix jag again. Listening to lots of live stuff. The winterland box set in particular. I know heโs been co-opted as the king of dadrock by guitar bores forever but damn if some of those freaky spacey noise jams are proto psych-krautrock garage filth. Just unbelievably cool. Argh, heโs just mind blowing.
Got bit intrigued as to Noelโs bass sound too and came across this...

Yo... anyone here interested in buying a project guitar? Needs a bit of work but it would sound quite nice with a bit of work. Ibanez GAX70 in red modded with Seymour Duncan SH-6 and SH-8 humbuckers

Can anyone advise me on internet guitar purchasing? I really want to try the next guitar I buy but when I'm lusting over Japanese LP copies like the one below and there's not many about to try...

I would lust over the equivalent Gibsons but I'm not made of money...

Whats this talk about Gibson going under?
Japanese gibsons...........like a fool, I passed on a white SG custom ibanez copy around 2006ish for ยฃ500. Didn't know what I was looking at, but then I wouldn't have my les paul if I had bought it, so there is that.
Looked exactly like that one Iommi was rocking for a while.

Gibson are in receivership aren't they? Weird. Sure someone will buy them out.
In folkier news, that sweet Nic Jones doc is back on the iplayer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03bsrrb

I played the guitar that's the missing link in my musical life yesterday and it was a Squier?
I never knew I needed a Bass VI.

There are loads of these in Oz, never used to see them in the UK at all... Greco, Burny, Tokai, Orville, plus loads of others I've forgotten... I've not been that impressed with the ones I've played but Aussies swear by them...
Tim always has a few in stock...
https://www.tymguitars.com.au/search?q=GrecoHe's had this copy of my early 70s LP Custom for a while... I'd imagine sending it to the UK could get expensive...

Neat! I'll check out that site.
I want them to be good because I like Japanese things and they're cheaper but I can handle it if they're crap. I just need to play one and find out.

The bloke who runs badlands guitar shop on Preston Road has a Greco and quite knowledgeable about all this. Have a word with him, he used to keep it in the shop so you can probably have a go.
Check this guy out, he's based in France though. Sick LP copies nonetheless http://www.japanguitars.co.uk

If you fancy a train ride there's a shop in Birmingham that sells vintage Japanese guitars.

@Dogtemple I go in there a lot, I never thought to ask him :/ Payday this week!
@n3il Awesome, cheers for the link. I've never been to Birmingham

I know loads of people out here who buy them then put Lollars or some other overpriced boutique pups in them... FujiGen (?) mojo, innit? One mate has a Greco Tele Deluxe with OG 70s Fender wide range humbuckers in it and that sounds pretty spectacular tbh...

Haha!
Been playing loads of electric guitar lately after the demise of folkband. Decided to spend some time working on my bending and vibrato which is an area i've always neglected. Am doing this by picking some dadrock classics (Zep and AC/DC mainly) and trying to nail them for accuracy of bend and consistent vibrato. Am definitely improving.
Also decided to tidy up my guitar a bit. Love my Tele but the thick poly lacquer always bugged me and recently it's started to crack on the back of the neck in an unpleasant way. Cleaned all the gunk off the fretboard and sanded it and the back of the back to bare wood. Tweaked the action, raised the pickups and re-strung with regular slinkys. Feels like a new guitar.
