• It had a whole load of gopro type mounts, more than I'll ever need. I used an adhesive backed on along with a Velcro strap and some cable ties to Mount it on my stem as the bar clamp one is quite big and ugly

  • What's a good piece of free software for Windows to quickly allow me to chop out a couple of minutes of Fly6 video for reporting shit drivers?

  • Windows movie maker is pre-installed, no?

  • I use Lightworks for editing vids, tis free and relatively user friendly, has heaps of tutorial vids also

  • I have no idea. Do I look like the kind of cu... oh..

    Doesn't look like it.

  • Right, I've had enough.

This morning's commute; Taxi reversing at speed (me stationary, jumped out the way with my bike to avoid being crushed) then blaming me saying his driving was allowed and I was in the wrong, followed by builder-van overtaking/cutting me (no wing mirror, hammered the side of his van which was pushing me into parked cars, he then got agro, gave chase up a cycle-bollarded road), followed by left hook at junction around 3 cyclists....

@hippy how are you getting on with your Fly? Or did you try that Apeman you linked to? Any other recommendations?

  • Fly6 just works. I've still not uploaded anything from it because I can't be arsed editing video. But when there's interesting stuff (like the ped being hit a few weeks ago) I note it and copy it to my PC. I've run it out of batteries a couple of times but it's pretty cool in that it beeps 4.3.2.1 times to let you know charge state. Comes with everything you need. Simple to edit text file on it to set date stamp. I haven't broken it yet but I do only use it on commutes because it wouldn't last a long ride (could dynamo charge it but then it's not so waterproof). Basically it's expensive but it works quite well. Sigma had them for £81.

I'd still like a front camera but haven't got around to getting one. Waiting for the Apeman one to drop in price again.

  • Appreciated Hippy, on the cusp of ordering both the Fly and Apeman and going full gadgetman. Plan is to recoup all costs with You've Been Framed rewards and YouTube ad revenue.

  • The Fly12 can be bought for £150 - It was worth the money at £250, I reckon

  • Apeman is ~£30 though

  • Trufax - The fly12 does have a light & all the collision detection gubbins though.

  • I don't need electronics telling me when I've crashed ;)

Yeah, I get that it's also a light but I already have £££ worth of lights so it's really a non-starter for me. Maybe for a newbie commuter with less existing kit or someone looking for less bar clutter, sleeker look. As you know, "better looking" and "hippy" do not oft meet.

  • I've got a fly6 and it is pretty decent. I haven't had much reason to look back at the footage, except when I've bumped into the missus and kids (the adoring glances i got made it worth the purchase price - i should wear lycra more often)

i think my fully charged one conked out about half an hour away from dunwich last year, so probably a good 7 hours usage recording and flashing.

I got mine on here for about £80 and i'm pleased with it. amen

  • I thought 81 was a good deal. I knew they'd get cheaper with the new one but no one seemed to budge for ages and I'd had it with cunts trying and failing to kill me (yeah, it's their failure that disgusts me).

  • i've been motivated to get one by dickhead cabbies (no passenger on board) on the road out of morden overtaking me while still half in the bus lane even if there's space in the other lane or wvm trying to force their way past to turn left 100yds further up as it's the one road that the bus lane is suspended at that time whenever i am leaving before 7 and there's no alternative routes.

as it's within first 5 minutes of my commute it gets my blood boiling as i go from 0-life endangered so quickly after leaving the house and want some footage of it so i can start calling these dickheads out on it.

  • Veho Muvi for sale, not mine but I have one and it's a pretty handy bit of kit, comes with a real sturdy case as well!

  • I find it astounding that people being moved along by fossil fuels and shitcuntery don't have the fucking ability to turn the steering wheel a little more to pass safely. Three empty lanes and they'll barely move around a rider.

  • Ace, much appreciated!

  • Just ordered a GoPro Hero 5 Session.
    https://www.shop.bt.com/products/gopro-hero5-session--chdhs-502-D48K.html?q=gopro
£149.99 with code "20GPCAM" at the moment, thought I'd share as seems like the best price it's been.

The entryGoPro Session is down to £119.00 on Amazon at the moment too.

  • Ordered the fly12 as well yesterday (£135 on amazon atm) after a twat in an audi buzzed me on a contraflow at about 30mph (20 limit) as he thought I was going the wrong way up the road illegally on my way in.

Of course this invited doom down upon my head for the ride home. came inches from being sideswiped by a transit that pulled out on museum of london roundabout while I was in the process of riding around it and leaving the exit after he was joining. he then chased me up the road beetroot faced and incomprehensible in spite of the fact he was 200% at fault and I was riding as defensively as humanly possible at that point. then had a further 15-20 minor incidents between the city and morden. from people jumping out in front of me, a car veered across 3 lanes and was driving along the wrong side of the road in the cs7 lane by balham to pull alongside his mate in a parked car for a chat in spite of me clearly riding straight towards him (i dont think he ever even looked at me).

if i'd had the cameras already I'd legitimately have enough content for a 10 minute youtube video.

  • I wish I had a front cam to grab the expression on the drivers face as he did his little 3-point turn only to end up facing the wrong way, facing me as I rode up the entry ramp. That's the second car I've seen drive the wrong way down that road.

  • just did my first ride with the fly 6 / 12 combo. one records in .mp4 the other in .avi, what the fuck... how even?

this is out of the box settings so may be able to change it but that's fucking dumb as a bag of rocks.

First commute using them got three of the twats. In each instance notice how quickly they approach my rear (oo-err) from when their headlights are first visible compared to the rest of traffic in the "fast" lane.

    https://youtu.be/-Wq8FV1wsrA

not the worst of instances, just the first ones to come up. the blue focus that overtakes after the tram tracks hill/bridge thing then went on to run a red at the big junction further up but too far to catch properly on cam.
