Hi all,
I have a few bikes I've bought and restored without my having known the frame builders, just being tempted to buy because of the clearly nicely built and well spec'd frames, and the fact that they mostly came with classic parts. I already have one of these up on the forum's 'unknown bikes/parts' thread, and will be listing two on here too. For the first one: I'm pretty sure the frame's British built (apparently a London based builder), and judging from the parts fitted, quite likely dates from the late 70's/early 80's. The best parts fitted are Shimano first gen Dura Ace front and rear derailleurs, Mavic sprint wheels with matching Dura Ace hubs, rare Mafac GT brakes, rare Kiseki Sigma stem, and a Campag headset. I don't think the frame is quite up to the standard of this kit, but it's still plainly of good quality, having cut-out lugs and bottom bracket shell, cast dropouts, and a smart, hand-finished paintjob. The weight of the built-up bike is 10kg, so it may well have 531 tubing, albeit the plain gauge version, since the seatpost size isn't 27.2mm, but the
26.8mm size of the non butted size. The frame number has no letters included and is quite a short one, so probably not one used by any of the larger frame builders? Obviously, one option would be to strip the frame to sell off the parts- but IMO that would be a shame when this is such a nice bike, and then then unidentified builder status of the frame would mean this course would strip it of most of its re-sale worth, after being separated from the quality kit.
Any thoughts on the frame builder or/and price gratefully received:) -

Hi everyone.
I just impulse bought a classic Swiss track bike built up in full campag. The bike has probably spent a several years on a hook at our local indoor track but was only ridden a handful of times. I was wondering what a reasonable asking price to quickly sell the complete group set (wheels, post, drivetrain, headset) and what might be a reasonable asking price for just the wheels and 165mm crankset if I were to keep everything else. Sheriff star C-record 32h hubs feel lovely, and there is no wear on the chain, ring (51) or cog (16) Rims are mavic open4cd, spokes are dull looking double butter DT, tied and soldered.
I bought the bike for the frame set, and spent money I shouldn’t have, so I would like to dig myself out of this hole quickly. I can ship anywhere in Europe or do collection in Geneva.
Thanks in advance for your opinion/advice. Regards,
James

That’s really nice.
What did you spend on the bike complete?
Are the wheels clincher rims?
-
• #2130
Rims are clincher.
I wonder if it is worth dismantling the wheels, polishing the hubs up nicely and just selling the hubset. I have the same rims on my road bike and could use them as spares.

Cranks are non fluted version so they should fetch a tidy sum!

You could drop @user62069 a message about the hubs?

If it helps I sold a set of Sheriff Star Pista hubs on 4cd’s for £380, although mine was a pursuit wheelset so front was 650c

Hi,
This is the second of the two bike's that I mentioned (above) I'd be listing here. The name on the downturn isn't the builder- apparently the original purchaser wanted his own name (with initials on headtube) there, and nothing else. The frame has a light tubeset, since weight comes to 9.85kg. All lugs are Cinelli and dropouts Shimano. There is no frame number on the frame, but the fork steerer tube has 355 stamped on it. -

I have this Bianchi pista frame set from 1978 in size 55 that I am thinking of selling.... Not the original paint and someone stupidly drilled the fork but my understanding is that this is extremely rare....So really not sure how to price it...Any idea? Would sell with headset and bottom bracket.
This is a hard sell so if I do, I don’t want to sell it cheap....

Yeah I do realise that but still, this is rare to come across...my time plan was to take it to Winston to fill the hole and have a proper respiratory with proper decals with Mario....but obviously this never happened like many other projects that have been sitting around for a couple of years.

Cannondale CAAD8, one of the last made in 'murica from 2008.
It's no Saeco but it's not one of the new Taiwan CAAD8s either. It's certainly used, £95? -

Hey,
I just bought this and want to sell off the tubs and get a set of clinchers, preferably carbon. The tubs on there now are from FIR, any idea how much they would go for?Or would there be someone who has clinchers and wants tubs?
Cheers

Nice!! I've no clue about the price, but those look like 650c wheels..?
-
• #2147
I don't think the wheels are 650, I think the frame is 65. ;-)
-
• #2148
They do look like that from they picture hey, but the bike is 63cm so the 700's look smaller.
-
• #2149
Ha! It was either one or the other.. I stand corrected. ;)

Looking to sell my lovely 1994 Fausto Coppi. Very rare colombus genius frame with original paint but modern components. Really not sure how much it is worth.
Frame definitely shows sings of age, yet there are no dings or dents - just the paint is worn. The components are in very good condition as it hasn't really ever been properly ridden, hence the sale.
Frame: Fausto Coppi 1994 Colombus Genius Reparato Course
Wheelset: Campagnolo Eurus wheelset
Groupset: Campagnolo Centaur 9 Speed
Stem: Thomson Elite 90mm stem
Seat post: Thomson Elite seat post
Forks: Colombus Minimal Forks 1 inch
Bars: Richey WCS Evo curve 42cm
Bar Tape: Lizard Skin
Saddle: Fizik Arione
Tyres: Continental 4000 23c
Headset: Campagnolo 1inch threaded headset
Pedals: Look Keo Classic
