My flatmate asked me if I wanted to sell my bike which has been collecting dust for the last 4 years in the shed to his brother.
It's an about 6 years old trekking bike and has a rather ugly dent on the tt. SLX cranks and front derailleur, XT front and BR-M445 hydraulic disc brakes.
Would 150€ be a fair price?

Anyone remember how much the Tokyo Fixed Dart F+F, the all black one, cost brand new? I think it was around £280 or there about... maybe cheaper...
This one: http://www.cycleexif.com/tokyo-fixed-dart
I am about to sell mine which is in very good condition, so want to know how much brand new so can decide how much to sell mine...
Cheers

"Tokyo Fixed DART frameset is made of cr-mo double butted tubing with a carbon fork (alu steerer). Frameset price is 380 euros. Descrete decals, easy geometry, stainless steel TFG dropouts at a great price. AS all Tokyo Fixed products, the quality and uniqueness exceeds the cost. Indulge!"
In 2013 it was £275. -

Full Campag Euclid MTB groupset in good condition?

• #2159
How much would you be willing to pay/think is fair price for a 1992 Team Motorola Merckx former pro bike fully kitted with original DA7400/7410, with rider name, and in good condition? Rider has a palmares that includes stage wins in the Tour and Vuelta.

Do you know the tubing ?

• #2161
MXL - but fork is not (original though).
-
• #2162
MXL frames can make between
£500-£750 depending on the colour scheme.
Motorolas do come up now and again but they are not that common especially in MXL.
It's good that it has it's original group
And a very good condition DA 74## group would be £250-£350.
You haven't said what the wheel set is.The most important things are -
Is it your size & can you afford it -
• #2163
Great - thanks @SideshowBob
Wheelset also looks like DA7400 hubs laced to what looks like Mavic rims, but hard to tell from photos I have seen.
These would just be general values for frame and parts though? Not taking into account the possibility that some people might actually want to pay extra for an ex-pro bike?
It does fit. I could probably afford it.

Really depends on the pro and the bike, and how you can prove it.
If you have Merckx's world record bike then yeah. If you have Remy Gregorio's probably not so much.
I had one of Sven Nys' old team frames-monument winner and team sky DS so not totally anonymous-and sold it for 180 bob.
Yours sounds like a thoroughbred bike anyways so don't think you'll have a problem attracting interest.

Of course. I'm just curious if anyone has had any experience with these types of bikes, and how to think about their value. The use value of a bike like this is not necessarily that high given that it has probably been ridden harder than any non-pro top of the line Merckx from that era . I don't know that any great races were won on this particular bike, and the rider is definitely not a legend outside his own country (where he is extremely well known however). But I'm 99.5% certain it is a legit bike, with the current owner giving me a plausible story of how it came into his ownership.

Something seems off to me about that^!
Unless they changed the design over the years? The details seem different to examples I’ve seen.
I’m far and away from being an expert though. What do other people think?
-
• #2167
What more specifically do you think looks off? Apart from black bottle cages, and a set of different pedals (the original look pedals are also included)? When looking at other 1992 Motorola's this looks very similar (especially the flat fork crown). This was the rider's reserve bike for the 1993 world championships, at which point he had moved on to a different team. So some small details might have been changed.

Yeah, doing a bit of research (sorry should of done it last night / blame the sun) you are right. I think all the mxl framesets I’ve seen have been from a different year. So some details on the frameset differ. Not seen the original flat crown fork before either.. think that also threw me off :)

Haha, no worries, I feel like most people probably have better ways of spending a late monday night after a long weekend... I'm definitely not particularly knowledgeable about these framesets (or bikes in general for that matter), but having looked around, I can't find anything immediate what would make me doubt the bike's authenticity. According to one internet source (so grain of salt), the flat crown fork was used as one way to save weight on some of these framesets (STI weighty, and last of hurrah of steel in these years).

Who was the pro and what is the seller asking for it?
-
• #2171
D*g O*to Lauritz*n - he seems to be willing to let it go for a little less than £800
-
• #2172
At £800 for the complete build it's a good price just as a Merckx Motorola.
You need to explore the provenance with the seller a bit more.
The attached link will be of interest as its about another of his bikes with frame size and even the son of the pro comments.

How much would a 853 fork be worth? Straight blade, lugged crown and dropouts, good paint condition with decals?

Start it at £30 quid?
Hi all
What is a Time 650c "precisa-type" TT fork worth? Used, but in excellent condition and threaded stearer.
