the rear feels considerably more spongy.
Could be many factor, but it's entirely possible to get this to feel sharper like the front.

I want silver shifters and Campag for my Serotta, am I completely mad if I go with Athena 11? I don’t like the look of the Potenza cranks or that the shifters are only partially silver.

You can always not use the Potenza crankset.
-
• #6255
Would there really be any noticeable gains from using just the potenza derailleurs and brakes?
-
• #6256
Just the chainset being the major eyesore, but if you can find an old Athena in silver, then grab em.

Centaur comes in silver too. I'd get that and replace the crank.
-

Potenza dérailleurs are only compatible with potenza shifters so you're stuck with the black bits . But cranks can be changed.

Finding Athena silver 11 is tricky. Finding it with Ultratorque is very very tricky.

I haz both - the non series Di2 hydro and the new dura Ace Di2 hydro
New Di2 is great, the control over Garmin is really useful, and the brakes are better too. Hoods are fractionally shorter and more comfy. I’d upgrade if you have the funds and the option.

Also I'm fairly sure there was never an ultra torque compact athena crankset, only a standard, at least I've never seen it. If that's a matter at all for @nohwol. I'm building up athena + centaur 10s UT compact cranks, which I doubt will cause any issues. Better that than the athena power torque cranks.

You are wrong.
I have an Athena 11 speed Carbon compact crankset in Ultratorque. I bought it second hand on here. I think it dates to 2010.

I'll probably try and get new stuff for the race bike and use this stuff until I kill it or the new stuff is cheap enough that I don't mind the hit.

The electronic hidden buttons are great. I have them set to scroll through Garmin data screens, and to activate the backlight at night.

I have mine on low light all the time and don't often swap screens so they're neither here not there. It's the brake lever throw that annoys me enough to want to swap them.

I think there will be bike lights that can be switched from dipped to full beam using the shifter buttons.
I have a wired switch for my exposure strada light and it is great on night rides.

talk modulation to me compared to R785

I’ve got one too, mine was from 2009 originally.

Me too. But then I thought we were talking about the silver athena groupset.

I have a silver Athena ultra torque compact
They are about but quite hard to find these days -

That would be useful for my Exposure light. I've always wanted to be able flash people (yes, that kind too). No good for my Supernova though, it's on full beam but pointed down all the time. Remote control of my helmet light would be kinda cool.
Actually I just thought of a reason those buttons would be useful. When the Garmin 1000 screen gets wet it stops responding to finger swipes, etc. Yeah, I know, a cycling computer that doesn't work if it's wet. FFS Garmin! Anyway, those buttons would mean I could stop it fucking my display up when I'm riding in the rain. Of course, if the 1030 proved any good I might be able to resolve the issue with one of those too...

The shifter hood buttons are rather handy for that - it's like having the Garmin remote but without the orrible lump on the side of the shifters. The only problem IME is that it works fine for a few hours in the rain, then water gets into the Garmin if it's heavy rain, and it borks.

That's good to know, I'd given up all hope having yet to see one
Only for your hydro shifters so they look fucking huge and insanely ugly
SRAM call it eTap HydR
