Aah yes, just tried it - that's great. Thanks!

^tempted to finally upgrade now then.

Yep it's back on android too.
Bonus!

I can't remember if you could use Apple Pay with the prepaid card? You can't with the current account yet.
Everything else I think is there. You can transfer cash to other Monzo friends easily, you can request money, you can top up in app. The thumb/face id bit is working again (it wasn't in the beta for a while).

Mainly because it doesn't offer anything extra that I need.
I got it mainly because of overseas withdrawals but they limited that pretty quickly. Revolut can do the pre-paid card stuff, I already have a number of bank accounts, Clarity does the overseas spending.
I may be missing something but I can't see any bonus it has over a traditional bank account.

Top-up is back now. But they ask if you could use a transfer instead as it costs them money to allow you to use the top-up feature. Interesting stuff. Not sure for how much longer though.

Since that feature was removed I've found that I use Monzo less and less as it didn't make sense to me to log into my bank transfer so cash just to use the card, just used my normal debit. Also since they now charge for cash abroad I'll go back to my Halifax Clarity card.
Read an article recently saying that only half of the people have switched from the pre-paid card to the full current account. Wonder how long it will take normal backs to get there app working in the same way a Monzo.

They charge to take cash out abroad from a cash point now? Well thats shit.
-
• #135
You can top up via the app now - back to how it used to be
-
• #136
That reminds me, I need to spend the money on the card before they disable it in a few months.
I can't really see any reason to get their current account. Does it do anything a normal bank can't?
-
• #137
Yeah but that message you can use the top-up function but it cost us money we prefer you to use your bank.
If it cost money then get rid of it...
-
• #138
You still get £200 cash per month abroad without any fee's at the same good exchange rate. You also aren't charged for transactions abroad. So if you go some where that isn't a cash society, you're normally all good.

I'm struggling a bit to see the point of Monzo - I already get instant notifications with my Amex gold card plus points I can convert to Avios (i.e. BA miles) with everything I spend, then I have a Nationwide Select card (with 0.25% cashback) for fee free transactions abroad. Is is just banking with a really good app for millenials?
Tandem offers 0.5% cashback but I'm a bit wary of a credit card I've never actually heard of - does anyone know who runs it?
-
• #140
Only one withdrawal per month though. At least Revolut has multiple withdrawals up to the cap.

It's an ex Capital One director and various venture capitalists.
Although unless you're willing to whore yourself out promoting them on social media you'll stay near the back of the queue for a card.

• #142
got a monzo instant sign-up code if anyone is still interested in trying it

I'm struggling a bit to see the point of Monzo
Isn't it all about the usability? The banking itself, possibly there's no point; but the app and all contact points are light years ahead (of barclays and hsbc at least).

Interestly for the good features the app has, the security is woeful no pin or fingerprint when you open the app just straight in. Seems to have been a massive oversight from them.
-
• #145
Yeah, agreed. I think this might be Android only though?
-
• #146
@giles337 yeah if you still have it I wouldn't mind a bash. See what all the fuss is about!
-
• #147
sorry, just saw this. PM your phone number and I will send it over if you still desire.
-
• #148
@giles337 cheers man, PM sent.

• #149
I'm not quite sure what the point of Monzo is now but I also have a golden ticket if anyone wants one.

Should we get one of these to preload before trips and save on int. fees?
It was only temporary. It's back now.
(I didn't know either actually but just found it's back in the app - on iOS anyway, probably Android too. I've just topped up in app from my HSBC account.)
