  • This lurker has also made it in. Anyone else feel a little dizzy?

They really buried the lead on the email there, thought they were letting me down gently. Good luck to who ever hasn't checked yet.

  • Great news people!
I’m envious, I’d like to work towards entering myself. One step at a time though!

  • Well done guys, I got a place too :-)

Too right, my expectations were managed by the time I'd read down to the punchline!

  • I'm in this year too!

  • Congrats you lot.

  • Uh oh - I'm in as well!

  • Got accepted, for some reason.

@Hippy any advice for this noob?

  • Congrats to all that got accepted!

  • Reading that email reminded me of the Barkley Marathons, where you get a letter of condolences on being accepted. Very, very excited for the official startlist now! Congrats to all who got in.

  • Congrats to all!

  • I happened to watch the documentary on Netflix last night - Absolutely.Crazy.

  • They let you back in? There's no accounting for taste.

    Don't eat the yellow snow?

  • I watched that last year on a recommendation of a running friend.
Absolutely crazy is right. We should get all LFGSSers doing this TCR to ride with a number plate 'LFGSSTCR06'!

  • I'm in also. Rollercoaster of emotions at the moment. :) Anxious, happy, nervous, scared, stoked and back again.

  • So what's everyones choice of bike for this? I'll be riding my (aluminium) Bowman Foots cray which also doubles as my commuter and all weather weekend bike.
It's got a 6700 / 6800 (cranks) mix on it currently so am hoping to fully upgrade to 6800 before departure. No Di2 or fancy hydro brakes as budget just doesn't allow. Spyres for me. Need some clip on aero bar recommendations too.
Girlfriend supportive. Just need work to approve the time off and sort out childcare logistics and should be good to go!
Off to workout best way to get to the start.
Feel like a fumbling virgin trying to work my way through the mountain of logistics required.

  • I'll use the same bike as last time (two years ago), an ICAN carbon cyclocross frame. I will have Di2 but no disc brakes or dynamos!
Zipp Vuka Alumina aerobars are the ones to go for, much more solid than most others and plenty of adjustment.
Eurostar to Brussels works well for getting out there, but I'm not sure what their bike policy is nowadays, whether you have to pack it up, which would be a pain.

  • Unlike a fumbling virgin this kind of racing takes fucking ages to sort out...

  • You in? Cool!

  • Did you get a place?

  • Maaaaaayyyybeeeee...

  • So yes.

See you in meteora. Nothing better than the cross continent diet.

  • What airlines do you guys use to get back and when do you book? Last-minute and any airline that will take a bike?

  • My starting point is a stock genesis equilibrium. It isn't really a choice since i'm keeping an eye on the cost but i reckon a strong steel frame should be a good starting point.
There's a whole lot of component swapping I have planned so i can't wait to see what it looks like when i'm done.
Its limited to rim brakes which might make me one of the few without discs this year. I don't know the stats but it feels like every everyone else is running discs.

Me too. Still trying to figure out which bit to start on first.
