  • When they were choosing their albums of last year, didn't she also say something like "I didn't find the album, the album found me." FFS!

I used to like her voice till my gf pointed out the gusherama she comes out with when commenting on everything she plays.

  • There’s also this stalling thing she does that once you clock, you notice her doing ALL TEH TIME. It’s somehing like ‘yeah, so errr, well’. You’ll either already know what I mean or you will next time she’s on the radio

  • The show trailer/adverts are annoying and I can't get to the wireless quick enough to switch it off when they come on - then I just enjoy the silence and often don't switch it back on again.

  • Erm, yep. Rrrr!

Also, not sure if I've got a special condition, but hearing a whispering voice amplified grates on me like fingernails down a blackboard. Lauren Laverne does this a LOT! Aaarggh!

Anyway, enough negativity. I like 6Music, and Gideon Coe seems like the sort of bloke I'd like to have a beer with whilst rummaging through his CD collection.

  • steve lamac is asking for "odd things youve stored your records in" now.

  • A lot of 6Music bashing going on, day time radio is always going to be slightly this way I think, due to wide audiences and non-specialist shows during the day time.
Think yourselves lucky you dont listen to Spanish day time radio, this is really poor.

Seeing some love for the Huey show, its usually the soundtrack to my Saturday mornings.

Really enjoyed the Wu-Tang take over.
Usually have it on when im about the house in the day time, some repetition on the playlist for sure but i have definitely discovered a fair chunk of music from the shows over the last couple of years.

It would be nice to see some different directions taken by the station as it is in danger of coming a little run of the mill BBC radio station.

    my 10 pence worth anyway.

  • Despite criticism, of course it's way better than other stations and one isn't meant to like all of it's output. Like all of the BBC it's a bus service not a taxi.

  • It’s always some sort of variation on ‘what band t-shirt were you wearing when you bought your first record on vinyl after seeing the band live’

  • Jazz mags and Rizla. What else is there?

  • Tom Ravenscroft stating he will be fading an hour long track.
His Dad once played all 35 minutes of Neil Young's 'Arc
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arc_(Neil_Young_%26_Crazy_Horse_album)
It may have been a protest at Radio1 management moving his show to a Sunday night / Monday morning graveyard slot in the early '90s.

  • I have to turn it off when he says "do you know what you want to do with that right" over the top of a song, it's really fucking annoying

they've played that shit new Jack White song to death.

I quite like that Cerys Matthews.

  • Love Iggy's show and religiously listen to it, occasionally listen Mary Anne Hobbs & Giles Peterson. Didn't know about that one off Wu-tang show, have just downloaded that for my run tomorrow!

  • Love Iggy's show

Yes, Iggy is great. Lovely voice.

  • What is PSI Friday ?

  • You had to be there :)

  • Boring tony parsons talking boringly about boring music

  • Had us on the ropes here but Guy Garvey rambling on already just landed the knockout punch.

  • Vic gallaway standing in for mark last week along with that skinny bloke on drive time who was at sbsw festival and tom Ravenscroft both made good listening . For a change . Iggy is back as well .

  • Once again we agree. I can’t abide lamaq and his total lack of creativity. It’s the same dire dronefest day in day out. What really pisses me off (and makes me take a rare excursion away from 6) is the fact he drags the same limp banal topics up for days. Even he sounds bored most of the time. I probably listen in at his time of the day a couple of times a week and often on a Thursday he’s boring the tits off the same subject (have you stood behind someone tall or whatever) as he was on a Monday.

  • Have we listened to FIP yet?

    https://www.fip.fr/

  • I used to listen to fip loads - it’s wa s always in at a company I used to work for. Cheers for reminding me about it!

  • “How many bands have you seen live that begin with the letter H”

“What colour socks were you wearing when your older sibling first introduced you to Neds Atomic Dustbin?

  • Haha. Precisely.

  • Glad you like it. A good example of what else Public Service broadcasting can be.

I suspect they don't discuss sock colours.

As for Radio 6: great in the evenings and especially at weekends.

  • LL at breakfast may take some getting used to.
