I'm guessing Chelsea had Arsenal by the short and curlies.
Arsenal really wanted Aubameyang.
Dortmund wouldn't sell Aubameyang unless they had a replacement striker lined up.
Dortmund would take Batshuayi as a replacement.
Chelsea agreed but only if Arsenal sold them Giroud.
If Chelsea said no to Batshuayi then the Aubameyang deal was most likely off. £18m is cheap.
I see the *taps nose* baton has been handed over to a new forumenger...
(I await the "It was sarcasm" followups...)

I think £18m for a 31 year old with 18 months left on his contract is a good price to be honest.
And of course it was sarcasm, I get all my transfer gossip from the internet like everyone else.

Arsenal with a cheeky £17m profit from this seasons transfers.
5 players in
17 players out
Top scorers from last 5 seasons sold
All natural wide players sold
Ageing squadAdd to that the fact we've conceded the same amount of goals as West Brom and generally been fully shit this season. Fair to say I'm pretty fed up.

Mahrez needs a better agent

Can now 4-2-3-1 but Aube done like playing on the wing.

Presumably Chelsea have been preoccupied trying to sign Giroud instead of preparing for Bournemouth.
-
• #140883
weve been all over Utd first half, two goals is the least we deserve and a decent penalty shout after Valencia’s scythe of a last ditch challenge, which could have made it three.

Chelsea looking strong. P45 in the morning?

I think Giroud has brought some of that Arsenal spirit with him...

How do you explain Walcott then?

The epitome of Harry Redknapp's 'just run around a bit'?

Fellaini subbed on, then replaced 8 minutes later :D

I have a danish friend with two kids who lives in Oakland and has for 20 odd years.
They're coming over at easter.
Guess who they want to watch at selhurst park?Any ideas how ?
Given the ultra nature of the holmesdale crowd I don't want to suggest they go in the home end.... -

Hiddink on a flight to London right about now

Looks like the aggressive press and harrying, plus the super early goal broke Utd’s spirit tonight.
Eriksen given way too much space in midfield and has been running things all night long.
We’ve been the better side by a mile and the score line flatters the opposition. Not sure what was up with Fellaini being taken off after an 8min substitution appearance but mourinho didn’t look happy..

Not a great January for us. Shocked about last nights result and to add insult to injury I read we’ve paid £18m for Giroud!?!
Add Barkley, Zappacosta, Bakayoko (who hasn’t lived up to expectations) and Drinkwater it starts to look like we’re aiming to build a pretty average squad.
Out of all transfers it’s just Rudiger and Morata that have added some value to the team but letting Costa go seems an even bigger mistake now than it did at the start of the season.

It was strange, wasn't it. Didn't even merit a comment in commentary or in the post match analysis on Match of the Day.

It was all they could talk about on Bt sport!

Forest have signed all the players today. Some of them are even good!
-
• #140897
Actually they'll probably turn out crap and we still don't have a defence. Wenger out.

• #140898
Been disappointed with Bakayoko. Zappacosta has done ok when called on and I like he always wants to be on the front foot and get a cross in.
Rudiger has been great.
18mil for a premiere league goal scorer who is used to league will get you goals and a French international is good money. Im quite happy with that signing and think he will do well. -

He’s 31, hardly a long term prospect is it. Agree on Rudiger who’s been solid for us. Can’t really tell how much we miss Matic next to Kante but our defence has improved compared to last year and we’re conceding less goals per game. It’s games like Bournemouth and Palace that do my head in.
Midfield needs to be addressed urgently and I’m afraid Bakayoko, Drinkwater and Barkley aren’t at the level of what we’re used to and what’s required to continue to challenge for trophies. Let’s hope I’m wrong.

agreed but for 18 mil i still think its a good bit of business as Chelsea needed cover and someone who can come straight in not have to settle in to England and all that, the only way we will see is if he gets goals.
agree with you about the midfield.
A better deal than Crouch or Carroll!
