Looks like they will customise a bit as well although they seem to be revamping their website which woll probably come with a massive price hike.

  • Boots still available btw, Aroogah fairly certain his feet will be too wide for them

  • Would be sorely tempted but am an 11 in their boots. I've got a pair of their cycling shoes (modified with leather soles and holes punched in the uppers), and a pair of their waxed leather boots. Neither are perfectly finished, but they're solidly made and wear in with loads of character; for the money they're great value, and a pair of either the Derby or the Trench boots is next on my list.

  • John Lobb sale in Northampton earlier - whilst I can appreciate the quality of the shoes i didn’t find anything that floated my boat.

All sub £250 which is cheap for his shoes

  • Finally gave in and put some rubber half soles on a couple pairs of shoes. The shoe finisher machine I have here needs a service, the motor has an issue starting up. Was going to wait until it was fixed but decided to make do.

First time in 4 1/2 years that I've done simple cobbling but it was quite nice to stretch those muscles again...would have been more enjoyable had I all the tools and materials necessary, literally cobbled together everything down to a large flat metal file to use as a hammer.

Then, it pissed down with rain, feel pretty smug I'd put the rubber sole on the Crockett&Jones now.

  • Anyone interested in a twice worn pair of Redwing Chukkas in uk9 - dark brown?
Really lovely, but just a bit small for me.

  • Tried getting them stretched?

  • Thought about it. Too tight on the heel and the front of them are the wrong shape for my stupid toes - not really much I can do about that. Would rather pass them on, recoup some money and get something else, instead of stretching them and ruining them.

Did consider sizing up, but I don't think the shape will work for me in any size. Better off with something I know 100% fits like Clarks or Grenson.

  • How much you after for them?

  • Does £120 sound fair? I literally have worn them twice. Still have the box etc

  • Sounds good. Will PM

  • these for sale in the classifieds if anyone interested

  • Learned today that 'shoetree' is a single word and eligible in a game of Scrabble.

Also had a pair delivered today but they have some sort of crystals forming in the joints - weird huh!? wtf is it and how worried should I be...

  • sweat snow!

  • Resin crystallising out of the wood?

  • snort/smoke/inject and see if youve been lucky and its a shipment from colombia?

  • Think I'll clear out a few pairs of unworn/seldom worn shoes once I'm back from Italy again. I'm home right now, so could possibly photo and even send tomorrow if anyone wants first dibs. Otherwise gonna do a proper FS or greedbay in January.

    Definitely gonna sell:
Sebago crepe-soled boots (UK9, worn once between the house and car),
Loake oxblood Derby's (UK9.5, unworn, boxed),
Tommy Hilfiger monk straps (single strap, EU44, worn a handful of times),
Barker black Oxfords (UK9, worn to a couple interviews, walked in a day or two).

    Maybe some others too.

  • Here we go, quickly. Sebago UK9, Hilfiger EU44, Selvedge EU44, Loake 771 unworn UK9.5, Barker UK9G, Russell & Bromley suede EU43 (fit loose, more like 44).

  • I like the Loake and Barker pairs, what sort of £££ are you looking for (I have no idea tbh)!

  • On the way to the airport now, so can't be sure which model the Barker are, but I think rrp was between £130 and £190.

The Loakes have the box still, they were £170 new.

So feel free to make me an offer by pm on the two, I'd recommend having a look at ebay prices for worn/new pairs if you wanted a rough gauge.

When I'm back on the 9th I can take more pictures of condition if you'd like. There is definitely small signs of wear on the Barker, but I will polish them best i can before sells.

  • Get your size 13 feet down to tk max Charing Cross road. They have some nice trickers brogues for you.

  • What wood is it? Seen similar stuff come from the firewood, just considered it part and parcel.

  • It's that cedar wood they use. I got a new set sent out from the supplier and it still had a little bit on there. Decided it's harmless sap but if it eats my whole wardrobe I'll let you know.

  • Can anyone advise on a ball park figure for a resole with chunky, commando type sole for a pair of boots I have?

Love the boots but the sole is very flat so they are useless for hill walking, not sure if it's worth a resole or should I just look for new boots.

Edit, the boots are these, just in a different colour of leather,

  • Bit of a mission, but don't knwo where you're based soooooo..... The cobblers in Whitstable do my work boots, have added vibration commando soles and charge 25 quid every time, always very happy with them. Two old boys from Cyprus. What boots are they out of interest?
