Tredz - good or bad?

  • Those reading intheknowcycling.com (which is bloody brilliant btw!) get an extra 10% off as well. Just bought a hope 20FIVE RS4 wheelset that were 15% off plus got the extra 10% off as well. Incidentally, they're yet to arrive nearly a month after ordering, but to be fair Tredz have been excellent in keeping me up-to-date. Happy to wait at that price!

  • I got mine from Ribble as Tredz would only price match the full sale price not a weekend promo as well.
Reading your comment makes it all the more frustrating but I did get them the next day from Ribble.

  • Buying a full bike from Tredz is a bit of an arse-clenching experience.

The way they ship the bike means some damage to the box is inevitable: handlebars spun 90 degrees and rotated so that the brake levers are parallel to the ground.

Even though they cut open another bike box and hung it over the bike, the exposed ends of the brake levers still punctured both the inner cardboard and the outer bike box, and left some small scratches on the levers.

They also use a little cardboard tube with elastic bands attached as a derailleur/rear mech guard.

I nearly had a heart attack when the TNT driver opened the shutter of his van and the bike was on its side. Luckily nothing was on it...

As far as the rest of its journey from Tredz to my door... ignorance is bliss!

Luckily it was delivered in fab working condition, drivetrain set up perfectly, just those small scuffs on the brake levers to knock them down a few points

  • I had usuall experience about item beeing in stock and delivered within 3 days to get email later that it will be shipped in a week ( haha and that's probably if the wind blows from continent side and will help them get item in stock to send).
I won't be surprised if in week I will get email that it's out of stock and I will never recive it

  • I got a jacket from them that was the wrong size - asked for it to be changed and also change the colour. They gave me back the right size but wrong colour. Couldn't be bothered with any more to and fro, so accepted it. Still a nice jacket, and a decent price compared to others.

  • You know your reputation is shit, when someone spends several hundred pounds with you and they're pleased it only has minor damage.

  • Ordered something from Tredz, got the usual phone call a few days later to say they couldn't get hold of it. I don't think they've actually ever managed to supply anything I've ordered from them.

  • Other companies seem to manage to supply things I've ordered from them, yep. Quite regularly. Still, let's give Tredz one more chance to disappoint, as their price on a Powertap GS front hub is very keen. Fingers crossed...

  • Shit... I just ordered some stuff from them and then saw this... fingers crossed for my winter gloves and balaclava to arrive and be the correct size.

Edit: After the third email update which says they "hope to despatch" my order a full month after I ordered from them I've cancelled my order and ordered some gloves in the Rapha sale... I hope they can at least process a refund on good time.

  • Anyone used an online retailer called Bikester? Why I'm after is significantly cheaper there but I'm suspicious

  • German store, mixed reviews, seems they struggle when things go wrong..

  • Hmmmm, not sure if it's worth the risk then!

  • I use their swiss shop occasionally (live in switzerland), never had any problems.

  • OK, might be worth the gamble then after all!

  • that all looks as described, and seeing its a spanish shop the "negro" refers to the colour, black.
did I win the guessing game?

  • @TheArchitect ordered 110BCD.
    144BCD arrived...

  • ... (grinning emoji)
    looks like I lost..;)

  • Clearly this is opportunity for a chainset upgrade. Glass half full & stuff...

  • I used them a couple of weeks ago. Ordered some FSA team issue bars.
Most places wanted £120+ but I got them from Bikester for about £80 with about a week turnaround.
That was my only experience with them....

  • Thanks. I took the chance and used them and top quality service. Would use again etc etc.

  • My wife just bought a bike and some panniers through them, all very easy, very quick. One of the pannier bags, however, had a fault and the stitching came apart the first time she used them. "No probs, just send it back" they said. My wife made the point that posting them back would cost her a fair wedge, large boxes and Royal Mail and all that, so could they send a box with pre-paid postage? "Of course, no problem at all, it will arrive tomorrow" they said.

    The box just arrived. Wtf.
