What are you sewing?

At the moment really lame purses, bags, and so on in textile. I don't yet have the resources in leather to get some nicer prototypes made, but I have found a source of used lorry sidewall (tarpaulin) to try make some cycling jersey pocket pouches and later waistbags/lock pouches/etc.
See: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/312234/
Longterm plan is to get cobbling again, shoe repairs, maybe later try making a whole shoe.
Oh also I have a source of thinsulate-esque material that I may be trying for thermal booties for winter cycling. Must get on to the company for samples.

Thanks a lot. Forgot to photograph the last couple of days of silly pouches. Went crazy with diagonal zips this afternoon, after a failed Opinel knife holder. Will update on Thursday, tomorrow is the gf's brother's graduation celebration. Back on topic, may wear either the Cestola light tan cap toes, or the rebuilt Cheaney derby shoes.

am debating between these
and these
veldtschoen appeals for its more rugged construction, but the dainite sole of the murton is less likely to bring so much mud into the house - though probably won't give as much grip in the wet outdoors

I found Dainite soles to have pretty minimal traction, though I honestly haven't found anything that works well on wet tile like in stores, restaurants, et cetera.

Top ones all day long fella.....the bottom ones are a little bit 'army cadet circa 1983' IMHO....
-
• #5684
Probs cos the traditional dot style dainite is for golf courses...

I had no idea, my Vibergs from a few years back had them and (in my experience) they were no great benefit.

The Murton’s aren’t available at the moment, just going into production but will take 12 weeks.
The veldtschoen is currently available. Plus my dad was in the army and has similar shoes, so they evoke childhood memories of how grown up shoes ought to look.

It's a possible, but then I'd have to start all over again at the convincing them that Uggs aren't a good idea.

Yesterday lunctime unusually saw me in Ealing, (while I waited for MOT news).
TK Maxx Ealing Broadway had just had a delivery of proper shoes.
The Harry's had a Vibram sole I had never seen before.
Many of the Trickers were size 13.

The Cheaney Murtons are not in stock in my size, but I did get the Cairngorms today. Got two sizes to compare for comfort. Small ones too small, the larger ones the left fitted perfectly but the right felt very uncomfortable around the toes. Was just packing them up to be sent back when I discovered there was a care manual inside the shoe - once removed they became instant friends. Will keep the Cairngorms and possibly get the Murton's after christmas if I have the funds.

Thanks. Been wearing them today in the 'workshop'. Leather soles are no good on a metal sewing treadle but man are they comfortable shoes.
