@Goat&Tricycle I take it you've got the Canyon adjustable setback post, so you're asking about that, rather than the saddle rail position?
Either way, starting in the middle would be a good idea :-)

I do. And I was indeed.
Great thanks everyone for your help. -

The measurements mentioned, e.g. 55mm setback, is from the middle of the bottom bracket to the tip of the saddle. The measurement markings on your seatpost are only for you to keep track if you move the saddle forwards or backwards, it's not relative to any other part of your bike.

This is worth a read, regarding saddle setback on the bike.

Has anyone made the shift to midfoot cleat and had any success? Am currently recovering from achilles tendinopathy and want a rearward cleat position to place as little stress on my calves as possible.
Speedplay is the way to go?

Would do but have already spent a tonne on bike fits in the past 2 years. Had one done back in June, after a weeks riding I had a small achilles tear in my "new improved position" so I don't feel like spending more money on them atm

Everything changes with a move to mid foot.

Are your cleats currently slammed as far back as possible?

They are Yeah

Scherrit will fix all your problems, and if he doesn't he'll give you your money back.

Indeed and he is so lovely I wouldn't give it back to him.

Not properly midfoot, but I have Speedplay extender plates and set my cleats as far back as possible (and as far outboard too).
I didn't have any problems before and I don't now.

Would love to, but can't stomach/afford another bike fit this year as a full time student

Why the shift to mid-foot then? Power/comfort?
I'd like to do it as I've heard it helps those with achilles/calf problems (the rationale seems to make sense)
Euph?
