The whole push for using the reousrces you have available more efficiently rather than using more powerful hardware is working wonders for battery life in the newer phones.

Google will be talking about their new phones (and other stuff) later today

I think it starts at 5pm (UK Brexit time).

So LG have come back and said they can only offer a repair (second repair) as out of warranty and suggest contacting seller (Carphone Warehouse) if I wanted to try and get a replacement/refund
How likely are CW to offer that though?

Pixel XL is £399 at CPW now:
https://www.carphonewarehouse.com/google/pixel-xl.html#!colour=black&capacity=32GB&dealType=sfPersonally I'd be snapping that up over a new Pixel, I love mine and imagine the new ones will be at least £300 more?
Annoying as I bought mine just over a week ago but I needed a working phone ASAP.
I suppose I could buy another one then return the new one for £450. Would that work?!

i think if its within 2 years of purchase and isn't fit for use they have to refund/replace. you entered into a contract with them, they have the contract with LG. I think?

I like the little camera, the headphones and the big speaker. Might buy the last 2.

Announced in the same day that Sonos announces voice control. I'll get the little speaker when Sonos supports Google assistant, some day next year.
I'd snap up the buds at £100 but £150 is punchy. Reviews required...

After the announcement that Amazon Alexa is included in the new sonos, I doubt they will ever support google assistant.

I'm looking into upgrading my contract to the Pixel 2 XL, but I want to be able to do touching and feeling of it before I do. EE have a good pre-order deal with no up-front payments, and I don't want to miss that honestly. Anyone know whether any stores will have the phones in before the official launch date?

They also that announced that Google assistant support is coming next year.

The PC World near Warren Street is probably your best chance, there is a big Google franchise in the store.

I went in there yesterday. The guys only had a standard Pixel 2. I didn't actually ask whether they would be getting an XL.
They are of course taking orders and they would be delivered (I think) around 18th October. Any orders for Google phones through them are in fact fulfilled by Carphone Warehouse who also have a franchise in that store.
For info they're refurbishing the Google franchise space at the moment - so they are just using a small stand nearby - and according to the signage that won't be re-opening until 12th October.

I too am miffed that they dropped the price again just after I bought mine. Might be having words on the weekend.

No but I seriously hope so.
I am assuming that you can use any google assistant on the network to control Sonos, such as phone, home, buds or hopefully even a smartwatch.
I have been disappointing before though. We will have to wait and see.

I have been disappointing before though.
Only to your parents.
Hope so too, I have a Play 1, and combined with the free Home Mini that comes with a pixel 2, I think it'd be a good spotify/smart home set up. Might even buy some HomeKit light.

If you only have one play 1 I'd be tempted to ditch it and go down the Google speaker router. I have LOTs of Sonos kit and am beginning to regret it. I just don't believe that they will open up enough to compete properly. Witness the shambles that is their lack of audible.com support and awful BBC catch-up content. Yesterday's announcement gives me some hope, but the proof will be in the pudding.

I did consider that too, cheers for the advice. If I can flog the sonos I could probably get another google home for the money
Thanks.
