  • Buy some lightbicycle rims and rebuild your wheels.

  • Are they lighter than Crests?

    Even I've killed Crests

  • I'll get another rim and do that down the line, but these are on the bike to work scheme, so are perfect now!
They weigh in about 1629gms, apparently, and come with tape, valves, spare spokes etc, as well as a two year warranty. They are rated to 115kg rider weight (all up, with luggage) and as I'm about 89kg, and I'll be putting em on a full susser, I reckon I'll be fine. I'm going to go for it!

  • Or the new Merida 120 in copper......hmmmmm.

  • Anyone tried Shimano SLX hubs?

They're tantalisingly affordable at the moment, however I fear they'll cost more long run in servicing.

EDIT: Never mind, found Novatec for £10 more

  • Anyone got any experience with cube bikes? Specifically the 120 HPC?

I can't really justify or afford it, but I can't stop looking......I'm a twat. My spearfish has a load of 'standards' that are obsolete, or becoming so, and I've had it five years and put a shed load of miles on it.....I've looked after it though! I feel like I'm cheating on my spouse, even talking about changing it......

I've got till tomorrow to decide, as my cycle to work thing ends at close of play....

  • would take SLX over Novatec anyday.

  • They're shimano, they'll last ages and cost very little to replace the bearings and regrease.

  • I've got the QR version of these on my cargo bike. They've lasted 40 000km with just some fresh grease added to the bearings, probably due for replacement now but that's a pretty decent life for the money.

The SLX groupset in general is incredible value: £350 for everything apart from the hubs at Merlin at the moment.

  • Gorrick 25 anniversary event cancelled as land licence from Army rescinded. Makes you wonder how long they can carry on like this.

  • Yeah I heard about this. What a shitter.

  • I can see them doing the same for TORQ in your sleep 2018 too. They've been making it very difficult for Gorrick over the past couple of years at Minley Manor.

  • Historically Gorrick have been about 90% of my races. My 2016/17 winter training was specifically targeted at 2 of their events, both of which were cancelled. G25 was offered as an alternative - cancelled.
Looks like I'll have to travel further to race in 2018.

  • What's replaced/replacing it?

  • Small human!

I've been told they are fun but expensive - like MTB, obvs.

  • Aha - congrats!

  • Congrats!

Also. Your stuff is all too small/wrong for me. Shame. Stanton is lovely.

    GLWSH

  • Anyone interested in a 22" Marin Nail Trail 29er? Fox forks, SLX group and brakes, Hope rear hub. Trying to gauge interest as I'm unsure if this is the best place to sell.

  • I'll stick with my Haribo, thanks...

  • gets you shredded and ready to shred

What sort of Haribo are you having O_o

  • Woah! Congrats to you both!
