  • I used it while watching the Vuelta over the weekend and wanted to do other things on my phone. I thought it was kinda cool. maybe just maybe they will set it up for youtube.

  • Bootlooping 6Ps are reportedly being replaced by Pixel XLs by google http://www.androidauthority.com/google-offering-pixel-xl-eligible-nexus-6p-owners-800351/

  • But you've been able to split the screen to see 2 apps at once for ages. Which I never remember when it might actually be useful.

All I have noticed with Oreo is that settings, colours and notifications have slightly changed again.

Oh and while I got it before Oreo, still confused why Google Assistant seems to be additional and separate to existing Google Search/voice search/smart cards/whatever they called the ability to set reminders etc. With an American voice.

  • Anyone have an experience of the Huawei P9, have lost patience waiting for Motorola to release the G5s Plus.

  • I had no idea you could do that!

  • Well exactly, I always forget about it. Although you can't do it with two Chrome windows, e.g. foreign cycling video feed in one and English text commentary in another. I guess you could get round that by installing another browser through.

  • Hang on, you completely can. Just split the screen, then from the Chrome menu, you can make a tab 'move to other window'. Well that makes it a bit more useful.

Although it only seems to work in one direction, that menu option does not appear in Chrome on the 'secondary' screen.

  • So... Oreo... What's the biggie?

On my N5x for twelve hours and it hasn't borked yet... Because I'm running Nova Launcher I have no idea what's new, the app icons on my desktop look shit now... That's all I'm getting...

It's another incremental update, but a bit more than in the past. I like the following:

Evening screen tone can be tweaked more. Hated in the past. Love it now.

Tap to wake is better looking.

Wake on notification is better looking.

Google Music notification is now colored based on album.

    Picture in picture is cool.

    Settings are much better organized.

If you care to to it, notifications can be highly customized.

Battery is still outstanding on my Pixel. For me best update in a while actually. I like it a lot.

  • I have the opportunity of getting a Note 5 for free... I use an iPhone as a daily driver so won't replace that because of lock-in and subscriptions etc but thinking of using the note as a screen for the kitchen, downloading stuff off Netflix for the commute etc and generally just airplane mode media duties.

Shall I just pass on the offer?

  • Huh. Didn't realize there were two clocks. Will be interesting to see what happens when clocks go back.

  • Dual SIM users: how does android decide which SIM to use for data?

  • Settling in OK? When does the new job start?

  • Yeah, man! So far so good! Furniture should be here this afternoon. That'll help. The place we have is palacial, though, so may look a tad odd. Start work next month, so we have some time to explore. Probably get the ferry to Tallinn next week for a day trip. Although Adrienne's got some illustration work to do.

Need to learn some basic Finnish or Swedish though. Everyone speaks English, but it's a bit of a dick move to assume, and grocery shopping is a bit of an adventure when the ingredients list may as well be Greek (or Finnish).

Also, unlimited 4g for tethering can be had for less than 20 euros.

  • My oneplus has options under Sim in settings that lets you choose the default one

  • Thanks! Simple.

  • ditto my motorola - just choose

  • Thinking about getting a Motorola E4+ as my phone died and now my backup spare one has too. Anything else good or better sub £200?

  • Just pulled the trigger on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x, a. because I was fed up of waiting for Motorola to release the G5s Plus which of course they did today, b. my wife is badgering me for a phone as hers has been unable to use since she managed drop it and boot it halfway down the street.

Anyone else had/got a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x one my issue is that I'm not sure if it has 4g? Reports seem mixed as whether it has and it works or not.

  • Xiaomi looks pretty good for the money. Also worth pointing out that banggood have the OP 5 for £355 until 25th Sept

  • I'm currently using the Wiley Fox Swift 2x which is a pretty good phone apart from the camera.

  • The Moto G series are good bang for the buck too

  • My non-x note 4 has 4g.

  • Yeah I'm kinda torn between E4+ and G5s+... It just depends how much I want to spend

  • My 2p would be if you're thinking about price and don't regularly use the full capacity of a smartphone, generally choose the cheaper one.

Even if you're sensible phones get damaged.

Imo amazing screens are over rated... although I don't play graphic heavy games. The only thing that would tempt me up to the G5s+ is the larger storage. Although once you jump to £250 I'd find it hard not to cough up an extra £100 for the one plus right now.
