  • BTW, did you manage to take photos?

If so, may i please have copies?

  • I don't bother with photos. I let others do the witnessing. Ralph should have some...

  • That just reminded me of something I learned....that it is impossible for an attractive female, with nicely trimmed ladies bits, to exit the sea, onto a stony beach, and maintain as much attractiveness as she had when she entered....so said an older man sat nearby, or something.

  • Whats lurker Ralphs forum name?

  • Who was the forumer that came in to the Axe and Compasses and was shocked by the brightness?

We recommended the chips, you manage to get some?

  • Big lug of a Forumite? That was me!

I walked into a WALL of light!!! Blinking like crazy!

    And yes I did!

You should have said hi :-)

  • @Batt and I were too involved with the chips and beer, not the place to shout DAS either haha!

  • Dat wishbone. Strong biek game @ad441

  • So very thin....

  • 'Plus, like in the London Marathon, the nicer people are slower.'

    Haha, so true

First Dynamo, fixed 48/17, longest ever ride by about 80-90 miles hahaha (my knees didn't think it was very funny) rode half with two patient friends with road bikes before they sped off. 4-5am with streams of twinkling red lights, rising sun and mild sleep deprivation was pretty magical...

  • that is a sliver of me on the left of that photo!

  • Oh Hai!

    Another one of us! Woop!

  • Looks even nicer if he cleans it...

  • He looks in no fit state to do that. Or anything else.

  • We were both in a pretty dark place by this stage.

  • I don't think anyone has done this before, but this captures very well what being on the ride is like.

  • Epic!

  • Jurek, that's fantastic.

  • Thanks to sleep dep, the last 15 to 20 miles of the ride have often felt like I'm flying anyway :)

  • sweet. remember seeing that drone on the right hand corner. good work dude

  • I'll be quick to point out it isn't my footage....

  • hadn't done the Dynamo since 2010 and had been a bit put off by ride reports on here in the intervening years. but my girlfriend wanted to do it after having to abort a previous attempt years ago due to puncture overload or something. having put in the prep by riding to both cambridge and brighton in recent weekends i knew she would have no problems this time.

was first time i rode with a freewheel. and a bike half-laden with clothes and our own food (pasta and flapjacks) so we didn't have to bother with the stops that much.

yeah the make-up of the riders seems to have changed a bit since i did it last but i have to say i saw very little douchebaggery, despite the proliferation of roadies (in clubs, groups or solo). only saw one idiot living the dream by discarding a gel wrapper. and generally the overtaking was all done without incident.

had a lovely cruise through the night. was really good just gently spinning knowing that there was no rush. left at about 20:00 and arrived on the beach for 06:30. stopped along the way three times. one for a pint. one for a coffee (in Sudbury at the boathouse) and scran and then another food stop at the lovely water tower in the early hours.

was great to have @shootthebreeze to lead us out for the first 35 miles before he turned back for the smoke (and a bit of a work out sprinting back). big thanks to john mack for taking our tent out in the van (as we stayed on for two days to explore the area more). and drink some Sizewell Tea

was great to see some of the forum jerseys - @OneLessCardigan and @ChainBreaker - at the beginning (sorry i didn't stay long to chat - was meant to be on the road by then) and later seeing them arrive on the beach. saw a few fixed gear riders as they flew by us (we averaged 13mph for the trip).

what a perfect night it was for a spin to the coast.

  • I'm still getting flashbacks of those chips.

@ChainBreaker how was the rest of your ride?

    Hotdogs or legs?

I think I saw that single gel packet - it was the only one I saw, but was enough to get me reallyu angry about littering. I was very tired.
