  • I expect a lot of companies made them, I just meant that AFAIK it doesn't have a particular name or term, so you'll have to trawl eBay or check Velobase and find some (like MCamb posted) and then search for them.

  • Anyone know the cross section and internal diameter of the o-ring for a power2max type s?

  • Gawd, memories of those kind of rims + single pull calipers + suicide levers... literally did nothing in the wet

  • I really hate owning a TV (I end up watching crap) but I like watching sports on a big screen.

What's the least I could spend and get an ok 40-50 inch capable HD projector?

  • HD projector is a bit of an oxymoron. They technically exist but to get any kind of decent image quality you need a perfect surface and no ambient light. So basically a cinema room.

  • This rather depends on how well you can blackout your tv room.

If there is loads of ambient light you need to spend a lot.

  • projector?

Why a projector? You can get 40"-43" 4k LCD monitors from under £600

  • Projector is more portable and you can resize the screen for social occasions.

Got my Viewsonic 3D-capable 1080p projector for under £300 on eBay a few years ago.

  • Looks like it would shred your brake pads pretty speedily.

  • Amaaaazing. Thanks. Will pass the link along.

  • Looking to go to San Francisco for a week in October. Where are the good places roughly) to look to stay and where should we avoid?

  • Spacing on the largest sprocket doesn't look right does it?

  • Looks dished, sprocket the wrong way around?

  • That's what I though too, but it's got the usual Shimano spline design therefore not possible to mount the wrong way around. Could it be a 9sp sprocket, hence the wider spacing?

  • Think I have figured it out. eBay listing states:

This is a Miche cassette at ten speed we do two products one is compatible with Cam this comes chromes plated while the Sh compatible comes in a Mat finish.
We have sprockets from 11 up to 29 this will give you an excellent range to choose from cover T.T. set ups or we can do junior racing set ups or hill or mountain climbing setups

The largest sprocket looks shiny (chromed) compared the the other 9 sprockets, right?

  • Rent car. Go up to Napa

  • Car not an option

  • We should have some guide books from a trip a few years ago. Let me have a rummage tonight.

  • I wrote a long response then lost it somehow. So brief version:

Avoid staying in Tenderloin where cheapest places are. Gritty, esp at night.

Go to Alcatraz, it's popular but very good. Book online before you go!

Hire a bike (at least one of the big tourist bike hire places that are all over the wharves can do a road bike) and go over Golden Gate Bridge v. early to avoid crowds. Then do at least hilly loop round headland, up Hawk Hill/Conzelman Road/Bunker Hill. Not far, very scenic, tourists can't hack it. Extend to Mount Tamalpais/Muir Beach if you have time.

Been quite a few times so let me know if any specific questions

  • Thanks for the responses. mrs_com is not a cyclist barring a pootle around a park.

At the minute just looking for a rough area for Airbnb searches. Not going to October so plenty of time to research activities.

  • I hired a massive tandem with my non-cycling wife and it was great fun! We stayed in Nob Hill, which is very central, and I don't remember it being that expensive.

  • Last time we went we stayed near Haight - I think it was on Waller. It's nice, think Camden / Primrose Hill. Haight / Ashbury hippy past is well behind it, now it's more Craft Beer than gear. Near Castro and Mission which are great for food and bikey shiz.

Had the best breakfast evar at the Mission Beach cafe.

As above wouldn't recommend the Tenderloin or Downtown...SOMA might be OK, some good stuff there.

    Also say yes to Tandems.
