Why do people get heel rub on their cranks? I obviously never do, being a straight and true bulwark of anatomical perfection in the feet & ankle department. But srsly doesn't it bother people to have the shoe rub every pedal stroke? Why not move the cleats a bit and that's that? Don't tell me it's about q-factor and stuff, more watts lost rubbing off anodising surely?

Some people's feet are angled different. I'm not bad enough to get crank rub, but if i pedalled with my feet parallel to my bike I'd fuck up my knees pretty quick.

Must be some quick fix for this. Have you considered one of these?

It's not necessarily every pedal stroke. Feet are malleable, cleats have some float, even "Zero float" ones. Nor is it usually heels, if you look at where the rub is it's instep. Having a light instep rub one stroke in five but only when you're out of the saddle and applying high torque will take the anodising off over a season, but it might be only one stroke in ten thousand out of your total pedal revs.

Not if you fit that thing on your legs ^^

This is really good. Use a pea sized amount. Lasts for about 3 months.

Pythagoras?
Across the diagonal of the 10" box there should be 707mm, across the 14" box 752mm, although you'll lose a bit due to the box corners being radiussed and possibly a bit more from the tyre.
The red addition is roughly a rear 700x23C (668mm OD) by way if illustration, but get someone more competent than a retired woodwork teacher to check the maths before spending money!

I have three gpx routes that I'd like to snip bits out of to form one route. Is there an easy way to do this (I'm guessing gps babel is an option but not that user friendly)?
-
• #84536
As @mdcc_tester said. The evidence is clear on my cranks and shoes, but I never notice it happening.

Are they gpx routes or gpx track files? Easier to do it with gpx tracks files. You can of course open them with notepad and copy and paste to form a single track. If you put them somewhere I can join them using garmins basecamp which give a visual method where you can also snip and add bits.

I know you should not generally wear 1st claim club kit when riding with your 2nd claim club. But should you ever wear your 2nd claim club's kit?

What's the name of the type of rims with diamond shaped holes/dimples along the brake track?
Like the kind on old shoppers, but in this case I'm looking for 700c/27" box section rims

Cheers. I opted for the lazy version in the end of loading up all the routes and just loading up the next one when I got to the points that they intersected.

I think that was just a pattern some makers used in an attempt to improve the braking performance of steel rims.
Not sure that it has any name that you could search for.

Mmm damn thanks. I was sure that some old French companies did it. Long and short customer in the local bike cafe is after a matching pair, for the old Atom hubs.

Yup something like that. The originals had no name on them. That's the pattern though. Thanks.
Ok, here's a dimensioned drawing of the case which S&S state is 26" by 26" by 10":
Which is something of a mystery as the internal dimensions are greater than 26".
I'm tempted to order one that is 661mm by 661mm by 254mm internal, based on that, and hope that the United baggage person doesn't have a tape-measure that reads in mm.
