Thanks again for the kind words guys. @JB Paselas only come in 42mm right? I could go up to 38mm i think but not more. These are a true 35 mm at max pressure and there's only a couple of mms each side to go. Plus the guards are only 40 mm wide. I'll have to trawl the 650b thread I guess.

Kojak in 650b felt really good for the price.

I love Compass Loup Loup and commute/ride/tour on them, but can understand it is rather expensive.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for gumwalls here so kojaks aren't an option unfortunately. Could you comment on punctures for those loup loups? That's the biggest concern for me, shelling out £50 each for lightweight tyres only to have them puncture all the time.

Edit: half off these soma new express has to be a good deal? Or are these grand bois lierres better?

Well there are risk, but I don't recall having punctured yet but then again I rarely ever get punctured in general.

A few shots from today. This is a really fun ride, it's heavy & stable so going is slow but it feels fun anyway. Trying to imagine I'm on some epic tour while out on training rides.

Pretty intense headwind down the coast, better after turning inland.

Puncture no 1. Blamed the tyre but finally realised the rim tape is too narrow so the sharp edges in the inner rim wall were exposed here and there. Bodged some puncture patches on the worst bits. Luckily they'd erected a handy bus stop sign I could use as a workstand ;)

Few things are more irritating than congratulating yourself on a job well done fixing that puncture and then feeling the damn thing start to squirm again a mile later. This time I made use of a row of mailboxes and they seemed to hold some sort of mystical powers as the rest of the ride was puncture free. Nevertheless the whole experience shrank my nuts to the size of raisins.

Nope, other way around if anything. Had the bag for a while. Subconscious clairvoyance maybe?

Got it from an ebay seller/shop called 'studio brisant' but they don't seem to have it anymore when I checked just now.

This bike is great. Ridden most days what with lots of rain here lately and therefore also upped my flap game today. No more wet feet.

@russmeyer hey! sorry to revive an older thread (4 months ago was last update) but had a quick question about what type of fenders you used, type/size? and how did you go about attaching on front fork with rack, i tried zooming in but couldn't quite see in the pic. i have a similar 80s frame im doing a conversion to 650b, it's a nishiki tri-a, very similar in geometry as yours, and has no braze ons for fenders or racks since it was a racey racey bike. thanks dude, great build, very inspired by yours!
