Sweet! looking fast conditions. Maybe I'll finally do a bloody 18!
I'm not off till 5. Shout if you see me.

Thanks @Scilly.Suffolk
I felt good today, but thought I went out too hard. I'm definitely a confidence TTer. If it starts off slow, I find it hard to turn things around. -

I don't think you can or should go out slow in a 10. It's too short. Just keep it in check and don't go mad for the first 4mins and then just hold on for grim death.

• #15485
Yeah, but I was at 50kph before I hit the end of the start slip road which was maybe a bit much!

It's nuts I did 18:55 and someone beat me by 52 seconds! Jesus.
I need to work on my aeros. -

It wasn't an amazing day by any means. It was pretty fair with a little assistance. But traffic was normal for e2, fairly moderate. So a solid ride you can be proud of, unlike the V718!
To find 55 seconds that's what like 40watts which won't happen for maybe 5 years, if it even does! I've been training pretty consistently for 5 years now, so gains from here are small and slower.

It does seem, that the pointy end of time trialling is very much a rich persons game. Without spending money (and thousands) on aero testing, it's very hard to be there. Strength and being generally aero just isn't enough now. Which is a shame. But maybe it's always been that way (I don't believe so).

maybe it's always been that way
In the olden days, the sacrifice was made in a different way. Many top riders took low paying employment with no career progression in order to make the time for high volume training.
You should still be able to compete if you are cash poor but time rich, since we have access to tools and information which were unimagined even as recently as the 1980s. Wind tunnels and Aerocoach are just short cuts used by people who are cash rich and time poor, allowing iterations of testing in one day which would takes weeks of field testing.

Ah that makes some sense. If only they knew that volume isn't everything! Funny how things change. I wonder what in 20 years time people will mock us doing right now.
Yeah, I'm time poor too right now. But at the end of the year I'll have some time, and plan on investing it in some aero testing. I've found a suitable road near me. I just need the time.

Was at the e2/10 as well - had a good day and knocked 40s off my pb. Second time riding fixed as well. Puked on the little road coming back past the start. Don't know if there was anyone left to ride at that point, but if there were: sorry you had to see that!

Amazing effort. I know your Garmin dropped a bollock but what power do you reckon you put out for that time?
-
• #15494
Something around 365w.

Glad you all enjoyed the E2/10 on Saturday.
I was standing at 6 mile bottom waving you onto the finish.

Nice work.
books V718 trip after TABR
Oh, you dropped this... "fuck you Garmin!"
-
• #15497
Thanks. And don't go cheat. F11 or E2 is fast enough!
Thanks for marshalling @Peter_Carter :)

Great result mate.
As a big lad, I think the F11 is much more of a cheat than V718 with no traffic, but that's just my experience.
-
• #15499
I have no real interest in 10s. I got my club rec on the P88something and can't be arsed waiting for good day in Cambridge so if I put it out of reach by using the V718 I don't have to think about it again :)
I was actually joking though. I might race something at the end of the year but this season could be the first I don't race anything CTT.

Yeah thanks @Peter_Carter for marshalling.
Out of interest @skinny why is the V718 considered a cheat course? There is no big gift hill like the F11.
Yes that's what I'm worried about
