I'm thinking of a custom ti frame. Which builders should be on the shortlist? So far I've done a bit of research on Seven, Moots, Firefly and Festka. Who else is making quality ti frames?

Enigma and the guys from reilly in brighton

Second for Enigma. My Enigma bike is the only bike I have which I'd be genuinely upset if it got stolen. It's great.

I would also consider the Italians alongside the others mentioned: De Rosa, Tommasini both worth a look. The weak pound doesn't help, but their made to measure options are still a bit cheaper than the US equivalents. I got a new Ti Tommasini last year and am absolutely loving it.

If you're going Italian then go to their Ti specialists like Nevi or Passoni.

Fair shout...although would have had to remortgage the house for a Passoni! A matter of taste to an extent but all have a good reputation for their welding.

Aesthetically speaking, Passoni's leave me cold.

I have a custom De Rosa Titanio and would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

I can't recommend Triton highly enough. I've had 3 different frames from them, and they are stunning. Their prices have gone up a little, but still very competitive, and their hardware, esp the CNCed yokes are beautiful.

Kent Eriksen if you want something built by the founder of Moots and based on accolades as possibly the best Ti builder. But I, also would highly recommend Enigma as a 'real world' builder and for accessibility.

My Lynskey.
Ultegra 6800, Chris King hubs and headset and Deda finishing kit.Have dialled in the saddle, slammed the stem and put a 11-28 with the correct chain length on it since this pic was took.
Should last me a while.

I see people aren't recommending Burls as much for custom Ti frames. Any reasons?

Ugly logo typeface?

I've had my Burls for 5 years now and love it just as much now as I did when I got it.
Thumbs up from me.

That's good.
I already have a Burls track frame that I bought second hand, and am pretty impressed with that. But now I'm contemplating asking him to build me an audax bike that'll take gravel-size wheels so I can take it on bridle paths and the like. Just wondered if there had been any recent issues...
My Signature Ti road bike, Chris King this and that, random Sram -parts and truly ugly handlebars.
