those look nice. are they easy to set up? is the plastic molding precise or will the guard try to rip itself from my hands while i'm trying to position the screws on the rods?

Nice bikes :)
I have chromoplastics on my tourer after a bit of fiddling to get them on they've been fine.
The clamp on ones work well too but do put electrical tape under them or they'll rub the paint off

will post these here too after chat and miscellany just to keep track of the progress.
wheels are going to be fulcrum r5's. bars are procraft 26mm compacts chosen for the short reach, saddle is a flite ti, seatpost is a vintage controltech (see pic below). this will be used in town, so have to figure out qr's (pitlock or standard allen with hexlox). ergos are 3rd gen veloce to mach the derailleurs.

Please say those aren't the final cranks.
-
• #56
why? they are final as everything else in this thread.. i might change my mind and redo everything in two weeks! :)
this isn't a resto(mod) project in any way.. it had a shimano 5500 groupset before and it was just fine. wanted to transfer it to campag as i have campag 10s on my cannondale and i just love the way it works.
didn't want the crap power torque system original to 3g ergo veloce, i'm sure as hell not going to run a shimano/sram chainset on a campag system and i wanted it to be integrated. i came across this rotor, it said hi, we liked each other so it is staying for a good while :)
the rest is a mash of stuff too. controltech with aggressor and procraft.. these are bits to dial in the perfect position and nothing else. colour coordination was the only thing in mind. so for a runaround/bad weather trainer i think this is perfect!

This is one of my favorite forum bikes, so good. Such a nice choice of components.

fuck this shit... I did not even know I was not subscribed to this thread.
subscribing now!
You should really lend me some taste for choosing components.. :) Keep it up, and report the riding quality of those bars.

I'm a bit confused, because I have been riding with black outers, black cable caps, black saddle, black stem, black handlebars, black spacers, black headset and black chainrings. :D
I was spending too much time ruminating about what colour should I get for those small parts, ended up with buying black from everything. :)

oh you know what stage of your basso i'm talking about! but it seems all turned out good in the end :)

Btw, do you know any option for applying a 30mm axled chainset for italian bb?
I've found quite reasonably priced bb-s, which enable you to run 30mm axle on bsa threaded frames, but unfortunately, not on italian :)
presumably, such solution does not exist<

Pareil c'est a moi cette potence et c'est grΓ’ce a toi si j'en ai trouvΓ© une et c'est pas si lourd pour une potence acier en plus...

Rotor do one:
http://www.sigmasport.co.uk/item/Rotor/Italian-Bottom-Bracket-to-BB30-Steel/1CL2@hma thanks, think I might go Rotor 24 on my next project. This looks really good!

@Halbert - never seen anything other than rotor's ITA30.. and i'm not sure if it will fit any other chainset as rotors have a longer axle so you can use them with outboard bbs.

so this is finally done. kind of.. after a really long wait, i put it together and went for a spin - this is one of the best bikes i've ever had.. feels weightless, soaks up everything and i just love looking at it. still have to put endcaps on cables and a proper headset topcap, but it is working now and i'm riding the hell out of it! (and the furry companion, as always.. :)

+1 for colour coding your cat to the finishing kit, nice touch.

finally took delivery of my ever-growing london stash.. my commuter build can begin shortly.
after realising i wanted disc brakes and gears, the paddy wagon has to go (buy my paddy wagon!) and to replace it, i bought a lovely yolk-yellow day one disc frame.
i have the og forks, but will fit these instead. they are no wound-up but didn't cost me that much either (bontrager satellite elite).
plan is to throw these on (i have the pair of the kojak of course). and why do i want a red chainset on a bike like this, you ask?
well it's amazing how much cardboard sram wastes on packaging.
