  • RAM issue on your computer ? - I had similar on my MacBook Air with 4GB of RAM.

Have to make sure no one else is logged in, all other browser tabs closed, all other apps closed etc to get TR and Netflix running smoothly together

  • 8Gb of RAM should be plenty, no? Worst case, I'll just use an iPad for Netflix instead

  • Is there a free trial code or offer for TR? Would like to give it a shot but too tight to pay up without having a go first

  • another one on this - HTF do you watch a youtube vid on full screen and get the minimised horizontal TR app screen to work in front of it? or do you just have to drag and resize the youtube widow to as big as possible to fill 90% of the screen and then have the TR screen in the remaining 10%?

i thought it was supposed to be a feature of the app that you could easily overlay stuff to watch?

  • On a Mac I don't think you can. I now have two laptops on my ironing board for this purpose.

A plus point though - after switching for virtual power to an actual power meter, I'm putting out far better numbers. They had the curve way out for my turbo.

  • Anyone using trainer road with resistance rollers?

  • i am using it with a pair of sportcrafters resistance rollers

  • How do you find it? can you get the required watts on the road rollers? I've tried turbos a couple of times but they are too boring. I'm going to be very time short soon and I could get a resistance unit for my rollers.

  • I've had no problems getting the required power out of them, although I'm only using virtual power and I'm pretty sure that it overestimates! I've had them reading 1200w during a 10s sprint so they are a viable option

  • Yep, Arion Mag rollers with a power meter on my bike. No probs getting to the desired watts, as I'm not doing anything that involves going beyond ~110% FTP. Only issue is it's harder to ride really slow in the recovery valleys!

  • Sweet. I'll try it out on the rollers then.

Next question, any reason to buy the very expensive Wahoo ant+ dongle for my iPad as recommended by TrainerRoad? I'm not using a smart trainer. This will do the job?

  • I definitely recommend only doing rollers if you've got a resistance unit.

If you're just starting out and your FTP is around 200 watts or below rollers without resistance will be ok. As soon as you start getting to a FTP of 250+ Watts then you'll struggle with them, unless you like doing your intervals at 110+rpm.

I've used this Ant+ stick on a Mac with Trainerroad without issues

  • Tacx trainer and trainerroad Is telling me my FTP is 44w. I'm pretty sure my turbo is knackered.

  • but what's that in w/kg?

  • Less than 0.5 maybe.

  • I bought a Wahoo blue sc and signed up to TR a few months ago with a view to whipping myself into shape for this season, but quickly realised:

    1. I don't like structured training on a turbo
    2. I don't like structured training

As a result of this the Wahoo gizmo has sat unused in original packaging for most of this time.

If anyone is looking for one let me know, will put it in classifieds later today.

  • It seems I have three free months of TrainerRoad to give away. Anybody fancy one of them?

Edit - the free month only seems to apply to people who haven't already got a TrainerRoad account :-/

  • I'm trying to get trainerroad set up.

Is the issue here the dongle or the cable? I also got an error message saying the dongle wasn't supported so I'm guessing that's it. Suffetfest website says I shouldn't be using the lightning cable.

  • If that's not an origional Apple adaptor it could be the issue.

  • Which Speciality block for 2-3 min hill climbs?

  • Matthes +3?

Look in the crit specialist or the cyclocross specialist bit, the off road may have some other bits and pieces.

  • Yeah, I was looking at Crit Speciality, seems pretty good, 130%+ FTP efforts and some ramped intervals that I reckon would do a good impression of a HC effort.

Looking for the whole block really, I can't be bothered picking an choosing, just want a plan to follow.

  • Friend of mine saw some pretty good hc improvements from following the cx plan.

  • Which build plan for 2-3 hour road races, but v02 is a weakness for me - stick with Sustained Power and do more top end stuff? Or are they all the same really until Specialty?

  • Is there no way to create custom training plans? seems odd, everyone's got a different schedule and it'd be good to move things around.
