Wow, that's not good.
Not sure which sellers can be trusted 100% now. Just luck I suppose.
This is the last watch that I wanted so hopefully I won't have to deal with anymore sellers.

Whats everyone's thought on christopher ward? My Sinn has died and will taken 12 weeks to get serviced so might get a temporary replacement as these are half price this weekend.

I've got one of the old automatic CW Tridents. Very high production values, feels like a much more expensive watch than it was to buy. I also prefer the new logo, much cleaner.
Not owned one of their dress watches (honestly if I was buying again I'd go for one of the new C65 Trident Vintages - I love that second hand) but if the regular Trident is anything to go by I'd say it's a safe bet for the money.

The C65 Trident Vintage would also be my first choice, but it doesn't go as nice with a suit and the C5 is half the price.
I'm hoping that they haven't cut corners on their newer watches as profits tend to trump quality over time.

DJ on nato. Yay or nay?

Yay, but for any of the decorated or fluted bezel watches, either a jazzy NATO like the first one, or a leather NATO.
Military coloured straps like the 2nd need a black dial and smooth bezel.

Yeah. I'm not entirely convinced. I'm not a big fan of the jubilee, but I have to admit the oyster doesn't look quite right. Perhaps a standard strap is the way to go.

Nice watch. Either of the natos or the leather. Different mood or clothing,,,,,, different strap. I agree the oyster doesn't work.
I have a green Nato on a similar shape seiko -

Has anybody on here got a Sinn UX? Happy with it?
-
• #22062
Yeah, I have a UX. I'm not sentimental about it like I am with my other watches, but for what it is, I think it's one of the best watches you can buy.
I looks great, wears much better than its 44mm would suggest, is absolutely bombproof, accurate to a couple of seconds per year, it's tegimented steel case is still mark free despite being my 'beater' that's taken a fair few knocks, it's the most legible watch I've ever worn, the lume is superb, the effect of the floating hands caused by the oil in the case is both fascinating and genuinely useful, it's lack of reflection underwater is incredible, and gives bragging rights over just about everyone when it comes to depth rating.
Only negatives I can think of...the rubber strap collects dust so always looks a bit dirty. The standard clasp is HUGE...I don't mind it, but many do and a small version is available. The case has cut out things between the lugs for the standard straps which can be seen if you wear it on a NATO, and the case can look a little tuna-can like on a NATO.

Thanks mate. Really useful. You confirm what I hoped/expected about the UX.
I'm thinking about buying this one:

Also looks great with your military diving outfit and equipment :)

That finish always makes me think of the Porsche Design chrono. One day.

Have to disagree with other mungers. I think the DJ on an olive nato is toight. Also the preppy look is tres preppy. Basically baller watches look better on natos. Not so much leather. IMO

Cheers, yeah, I went ahead and bagged the olive nato in the end. After giving it more thought, think it's going to be pretty versatile.

I'm having a bit of a watch clear out for an upcoming large purchase.
Brand Model Age Condition Price
Seiko SNK805 Automatic 6 years Lightly used £30
Ingersoll IN1203 Moonphase Automatic ~2 years Lightly used. Purchased damaged from drop, serviced and repaired by me. £50
Lucerne Telemeter ~40 years Gold plate worn. Excellent condition otherwise. Serviced by me. £50
Seiko SNZG09K1 Automatic 4 years Lightly used £50
Omega Seamaster 600 - Gold Filled ~50 years Excellent condition for age. Caseback slightly word but very well looked after watch £350
Where indicated that it has been repaired/Serviced by me, the intention is to inform you that the watch has been serviced by somebody who barely knows what they are doing. Having said that, they all keep good time. For obvious reasons, can't provide any guarantee of water resistance.
The Seikos have never been opened since purchase from new. Ingersoll and Lucerne watches have been completely stripped, cleaned, lubed and reassembled. Omega Seamaster has had caseback opened to check movement authenticity but has had no work done.
Would sell as a job lot for £500.

@Stonehedge Interested in the Lucerne
It was a few years ago now but I had a weird experience with Yorkshire Watches over a Seiko Monster that I bought from them.
After a few weeks on the wrist it started to lose loads of time. I shipped it back to them for a warranty repair. They emailed me a few days later to say somebody had clearly opened the watch and tinkered with it so the problem wasn't covered by the warranty.
This was utter bullshit. Well, if it was true, then Yorkshire Watches sold me a watch that somebody had been fucking with. Have been quite hesitant to deal with them again after that.
