This stuff is amazing. I put it on everything anyway.

Have you tried 'aquafaba' (I think it's called). It's on my to try list but supposedly it's a viable egg substitute.
I like the idea of it because it's a non refined / processed ingredient.

Works great for mayonnaise and I've made a passable chocolate mousse with it too.

So bored of insecure meat-eating BTL comments trying to justify their own complicity in cruelty to themselves.

From that Dairy is scary groiniad article
Only 10 years ago, there were about 21,000 dairy farms in England, Scotland and Wales. Industry analysts believe there will be fewer than 5,000 left by 2026.
That makes me very happy. I live in a 99% dairy farming part of the country, and it's disgusting, on top of the cruelty, the state of the rivers and roads, the amount of effluent that runs off into the sea. Wouldn't be surprised if the south coast of devon/dorset is a dead zone soon.

Hm, I'm not sure that's only good news. I remember reading somewhere that dairy farms had generally just become much larger. I think it may have been in an article about those proposed 'super-dairies' that were all over the headlines a few years ago. Somehow, I doubt that the volumes of cow's milk produced, and the number of cows abused for it, have decreased.

My friend made really good meringue with that recently.

While we're on the subject of grey Oatly:

Yeah, you're right to an extent, farms are being merged/enlarged, as are herds. Which is bad news for cows. But with a diminished market for dairy the remaining farmers may rethink. Problem is that farmers that have been animal abusers for generations are unlikely to suddenly switch to arable farming. Fuck them anyway.

Oatly in tea has changed my life. I missed a good cuppa for so long and never found any other alternatives to really work.
Also oatly creme fraiche, with red pepper, mushrooms, brocolli + mange tout mixed with pasta is 👌👌

can't work out how they are claiming "zero waste" goal: packaging, high food miles, freezing and then cooking in oven.
-
• #3648
I had Oatly once but didn't like it at all. I suppose I have to re-try (and I don't think it was the 'barista edition'. The trouble is that I don't ever take 'milk' in tea, so I'll have to invent some other way of having it. :)

In the comments, 'Saf Ari' is definitely not someone's real name, and the surname 'Keane Baker' sounds a bit odd, too. :)
