  • Cheers!
    Also to @mdcc_tester and @Sumo.
I'm just after something really small, simple and easy to maintain for now. I'll investigate both the suggestions.

  • Any magical method? Is Al. Bolts are camembert.

  • Cheers. Already bought some eBay ones but head is too large and remaining bolt too recessed, these look slimmer profile.

  • What is a humidifier and do I need a humidifier and do I need to spend 500 quid on a Dyson humidifier?

    Humidifier?

  • What is a humidifier

A device which increases the relative humidity (RH) in an enclosed space by evaporating water

    do I need a humidifier

Some people find breathing easier if the RH is high. Conversely, some people have trouble with high RH and benefit from a dehumidifier (basically the condenser part of an air conditioning system). Your pulmonologist can tell you which of these two possibilities applies to you.

  • I shall call my pulmonologist.

  • Automatic centre punch.
Punch an axial dent near the circumference of the bolt.
Punch it several more times to make the dent nice and deep.
Place the punch in the dent and tilt it so that it is punching as radially as is possible.
Punch, punch and punch again in an anticlockwise direction until you've rotated the bolt out of the riv nut.

This works. Just takes a bit of patience - and there is no risk of snapping an extractor.

  • New phone arrived this morning from Carphone Warehouse with Vodafone.

    It's a Pixel.

Was previously directly with Vodafone on an iPhone 6.

I want to retain my old phone number.

I put the new sim in the new phone (possibly an error but I wanted a clean install).

I can't receive SMS from certain people but I can receive them from others.

I can receive some and make some phone calls but can't from others.

Basically I want to know, do I need to do some PAC code bullshit or sim swap or something to keep my number and get fully activated or if I do that will I set up on the new number?

  • No PAC as you're not changing network. Vodafone should just be able to sort it. If that's not happening then you could always get a giffgaff SIM and transfer away from the old SIM then back again to the new. Bit of a faff

  • Also, is it people with iPhone that you can't get messages from. Might need to switch off imessage.

  • Cheers, have tried but really is too deep for this method to work, but you're right, I've had success in the past doing this. Also I suspect bolt may be cross threaded because it isn't shifting!

  • I've just come to that conclusion - it is iMessage folk i'm not getting contact from but I'm sure I've switched off iMessage on the old device (though I still have an iPad with it switched on - presume that needs switching off too - shall charge it up and see how I get on).
    Cheers

  • I have a spare road double Hollowtech 2 chainset that'd I'd like to use on a 73mm bottom bracket.

Do I just need MTB-specific HT2 BB cups to get this to work. I assume MTB cups are slightly thinner?

  • If you dry your clothes indoors, probably not.

  • I thought the axles on MTB HT ii cranksets were slightly longer...

  • I assume MTB cups are slightly thinner?

    No, MTB axles are longer.

  • Balls :/

    Thanks both.

  • Fixing a 47mm thick piece of timber to concrete, how long an expansion bolt will I need?

  • how long an expansion bolt will I need?

What's the magnitude and direction of the load? I've had a 2" thick piece of timber sat on a concrete floor for years without moving, and it didn't take any bolts at all :)

  • IFTTT - to me it looks like a security nightmare but am I being a paranoid and is it basically fine?

    I can't understand why this:
    https://ifttt.com/applets/227069p-press-a-button-to-track-work-hours-in-google-drive

This makes a widget you can add to the home screen on your phone. Never hassle with another time-tracking software - when you start work, press the button widget. When you stop working, press it again. Your work hours will be tracked automatically in a Google Spreadsheet.

    Needs this:
View and manage files in Google Drive
-Upload, download, update and delete files
-Manage files and documents e.g. search, organise and modify permissions and other metadata
    View your email address
    View your profile info
View and manage your spreadsheets in Google Drive
View and manage any of your documents and files in Google Drive
-List and search all of your documents and files in Google Drive
-Download any of your documents and files in Google Drive
-Create, move, copy, edit, or delete any of your documents in Google Drive
-Share or unshare any of your documents and files in Google Drive
View and manage your documents in Google Drive
    -View and modify existing documents
    -Share documents with others
Allow this application to run when you're not present
    Connect to an external service

    Bollocks or the future?

  • Looks like the main app needs all those things to try and do many things but that particular applet thing probably won't need them all, you could probably deny access to the ones you don't think it'll need and try it. Looks useful though.

  • It was going to be to run a decking joist along the edge/side of my shed's concrete base instead of having the joist up on posts but the dimensions don't work for bolting it to the concrete anyway.

  • any advice on bike mechanic course ?
