I'm a freelance designer trading through my Ltd company. My partner is a painter and decorator trading as a sole trader.
We're getting married in May. What are the relative benefits/drawbacks to us both trading through my Ltd co? We'll both be director's, as opposed to her being my employee.
Talk to me in layman's terms please. -

If your company is VAT registered then her quotes will look 20% less attractive to most people

has anyone had any experience with something similar?
Your home / contents insurer might help you out?
I'd imagine the distro / company that originated the bars will tell you to bugger off until you get a solicitor on their case.

It's not. Well I'm currently on the flat rate scheme, but that's getting the kibosh soon

have not got any insurance unfortunately. citizens advice has said i am entitled to comp to the value of the parts according to the 1987 consumer protection act so i have put that all in an email.
i spoke to cycle-sos and a solicitor gave me a call offering some pretty comprehensive advice re small claims etc so hopefully that will be enough to make them think it is not worth the hassle.
its too much cash for me just to let go tbh, my giro shoes are all fucked up, fizik antares saddle is ripped and a new wheel is pushing 300 even without the other smaller bits

Are there any other sites that let you build a custom map file for garmins? I usually use http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ but there's a 3 day wait to request maps and I'm leaving on Friday morning so it's not likely to be ready in time. Just need the East side of East Anglia and the edge 520 has limited space and no sd card slot annoyingly.

Velomap used to http://www.velomap.org
Not sure whether it still does (the site is blocked from my work for some reason) -

Cheers, Velomap got it done. Bit of a faff but I've got the whole of east anglia on there now.

How much space have you got?
I will post a link to a partial map of Est Anglia, it is about 40mb.

I got a new rattle on today's ride and realised at the end of it that the sunken nut holding the mudguard onto the fork had fallen off at some point.
It's a kinesis 4s disc, so a fairly deep carbon fork just with a bolt through from the mudguard thing at the front through the fork crown. Any idea what length of sunken nut I'd need? I can't remember what I fitted the first time around... Will loctite it this time though.

Depends on the one writing it I guess.

I need to fit a front brake on a track bike, bars are a bit similar in shape to cinelli criterium, bike is from the seventies. Build isn't fully period, and doesn't have to be, but I'd like to avoid something out of place like a gold finger / dirty Harry / bmx type of lever. Also want to avoid road levers as I don't like the idea of a dummy lever on one side. Best I can think of so far is dia compe guidonnet. Something discreet and basic (plain aluminum like the old weinman stuff, but with an appropriate lever shape...
Any suggestions? -

MultiGrooves
...anybody with a milling machine equipped with a boring head (or a lathe with a 4-jay chuck and a boring bar)? -

Anything off here fit the bill?
http://freshtripe.co.uk/components/brakes/brake-lever/
e.g. Velo Orange City or Tektro City?

Any suggestions?
Well since you want to keep a nice classic vibe, why not just go for something like a Cinelli Priest that fit the bike well?
In it's typical road mode;

Thanks, sorted now though. Got everything I needed with velomap at around 46mb.

Thanks, I like both options and have the weinman version of velo orange ones, but they are too long for the drop bars (end of lever too close to the bend / drop / return of the bar), hence feeling that the guidonnet were the best option.

Thanks, but quite keen to keep drops though...

Took the mudguards off my 4s Disc yesterday and it had a 2cm-ish sunken nut. I guess the medium long one that comes with a caliper brake.

Cheers, I've bought an 18mm one from chain reaction, so hopefully that'll do it.

Has anyone seen such a thing as a bolt for a seatclamp lug that has a torx head? My googling fails me. I've bought too many parts that have come with rounded bolts, I like the idea of changing most of my frames bolts to torx where possible.
Last friday i posted that my bars snapped and I crashed my bike as a result. have quite a lot of damage to my bike... seat is ripped, lever, grips, shoes and my front wheel is totally pancaked. I have had a reply from the company saying that they will have a look at the bars and see if they are covered under warranty but they will not have anything to do with "incidental damage". has anyone had any experience with something similar?
