The Pacenti SL23 650b rim seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.
Anyone know of another relatively light 650b rim (non-disk) in black?

Yeah, they're disk specific as far as I can tell? Can't seem to find any for rim brakes.

I have several years on the velo orange 650b rims. The first wheelset was a fixed rim brake set for a road conversion. The second and current wheelset is geared disc. They've both seen a variety of riding conditions including nasty long snowy salty winters on terrible roads and as daily utility commuting duty. Very nice rims.

Cnc-bike has some ryde rims. They are not light, but they are not expensive either :)

Couple of general questions, thinking of up building my son's 26er Trek mtb, it's quite a nice old F&F made of True Temper, V/canti mounts only...

Was wondering if I could get 27.5s in there, anyone got a ruler to hand to tell me what kind of fork/stays height from axles I'd need to get full mudguards & a medium width rim & tyre in there? The axle-crown on this fork is around 370mm... rear more like 360mm.

Also: what're my options don't mind V or Canti) for rasing rim brake height from brake bosses position down at 26" level?

Will post progress once I've started assembling parts. The frame's a cracker! Thinking of dynamo, rack, touring set up, mabe compact drops or swept-backs, probably with bar-end or thumbie 8sp, maybe single ring as I have a pair of midbleburns doing nothing. Think the kid needs proper full length cranks, going to get rid of his hybrid style Isla soon.

Think Paul brakes might be pushing the budget a bit ... anything else with lots of scope on the slots for raising blocks up a bit? I suppose I could always try those little offset plates things I saw around here somewhere..

Why 650b? surely the original 26" will be perfectly fine, and got lots of tyres choice.

My sincere opinion is to stick with 26", it worth it if the frame take narrow 700c tyres, but since you got 26", make it less complicated by sticking with it.

Ah well in that case serious dibs. Will work on another bike if not this.

I think Compass do some 26" tyres so you can still enjoy that primo feeling of cycling on clouds full of money and smugness.

(That reads a bit like I'm being snarky about Compass. I'm definitely not. I really love their tyres)
