  • You can buy mine if you want. I am probably never going to use it.

  • That sounds great, way too technical for me but awesome all the same...

Just had a 70s silverface Quad Reverb go up on a local FB forum for only $1250, giveaway price IMHO... Would jump on it if I didn't already have my beautiful Twin...

Bad Mongo have just been booked to do a show for the fifth anniversary of CrowBar in Brisbane... We'll be playing Scandinavian Leather in its entirety... So much widdly widdly!!!

I'm also doing that other gig now, seems silly not to play a launch show for an album you're playing on... I won't be talking to the drummer tho', fucking dickhead... It's like The Fucktones all over again... 😂

  • That isn't a bad price, no? Mine was AU$350, a steal...

  • That's pretty tempting. Got pics/price?

  • Nice man! Loving these stories of your newfound rock n roll perversion.

Won't it be hard not to talk to them? do they know you have beef?

  • Yeah it's a good price but I'm temporally skint. Turns out doing up a house isn't cheap.

  • They started the beef!?!?!!

I can be a real prick when I wanna be, it'll be fine... 😂

  • Ha. Just wondering!

The opportunities to sabotage must be really tempting. F*ck with his hi-hat clutch, de-tune his toms, loosen his stands and jam something in his snares. Arrange weird count-ins with the rest of the band, not enough to de-rail the whole thing but enough to stress him out and make his life really miserable for an hour.

    *highroad.

  • Nah, can't do that... Just play a kickass show and never see them again... Fucks me off cuz I got them the gig, big mistake, the band's fucked now... We probably won't play together again... 😔

  • Nightmare man. Did you share what the dude did previously? I can't remember.

  • Hey not sure if this is the right "microcosm" but I have a fender squier jaguar for sale in the classifieds if you would know anyone interested. Cheers, Tom

  • Saw it. Cool guitar! Good luck with the sale

  • I drunkenly bought a MIM Fender Jazzmaster body last night off the bay. Time for a new project. Anyone got a neck they'd like to sell me?

  • OK, who can help me get my ghetto stack set up?

These are the cabs, the amp can send out 4/8/16ohms... What do I do?!? #useless

  • I think the 4ohm setting could handle both speakers without blowing up your amp...anything higher than that would be too much load for the head. But I always thought mixing impedance wasn't such a good idea though as the 8ohm speaker will draw more power than the 16 and put out way more volume...I don't think putting out mismatched powers to different speakers is good for the output transformer in the head, especially if it's valve.

Ideally you'd want two parallel 8 ohm speakers with the amp set to 4 ohms or two 16 ohm with the amp at 8 ohms. Might be possible to have the 16 ohm cab rewired to 8?

  • This is what the back of the amp looks like, thoughts?

  • Wider shot so you can see what the schematic is showing...

  • I thought you just ran them in series: one output, into one cab, out and into the other no? Combined load matched to nearest value output on the amp. It's been a long time since I did it though. I'd ask somewhere like TDPRI.

  • This only works of one of your cabs had an out though. Internet says get a y cable, re-wire one cab so they're the same resistance, and use appropriate output (half the rating of one of the cabs, as per yr first post).

  • Best answer I've had so far is to get a splitter box so I can run both cabs with the same impedance... It's a black (Sabbath) art, obvs...

I've only ever played combos so it's all new stuff for me... Had the best rehearsal ever on Friday night, playing my solos standing with my head in the A cab (using the B cab as a shelf)... Wearing ear plugs, natch...

Beast of a sound, so much fucking fun...

  • Get em both rewired 16 and use a y cable out of the 8.

  • The B cab is already 16ohms and the A cab has a 16ohms input as well... Maybe that's the simplest answer...

  • Ah yeah I was assuming the amp had a couple of parallel outputs and selector switch for the ohm rating. You could probably run them in series from the 5ohm output furthest to the left, but might not be worth it as your 8 ohm cab will be doing most of the work...the extra load of the second cab probably won't add much volume but could damage the head.

Best to work out the combined load of the two cabs and if it exceeds 5ohms, I wouldn't risk it!
