I thin a pal of mine is selling a wolftooth one, new and unused. Can put him in touch if you like?

Pm me. Cheers

6800 is quite a bit nicer than 5800.

I'm currently running shimano 105 5700 10 speed on my road bike and need new inner and outer cables, can anyone recommend a set that doesn't cost the earth yet offers good performance?

not even with the b screw dialed in? You can get a 32 into the 10 speed stuff
It's possible.
It varies on the length of the derailleur hanger, some manufacturer's hanger are quite long that it actually drastically increase the capacity (Specialized Sequoia run a 105 5800 with 11-36t cassette)
If you have 28t sprocket on your drivetrain, and if the B-screw is not screw in at all, then 30t or even 32t within the realm of possibility.
Alternately, my best recommendation is to just get the cheapest 105 long cage derailleur and 105 cassette so you can have that option for whatever ride/event you intend to need the 32t cassette with.

Lifeline from Wiggle: the more expensive, compressionless set.

I'm after a 40t n/w chainring for ultegra
Superstar Components makes one: http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/raptor-chainring-110bcd-asymetric-narrow-wide.htm

Cheers. Not sure whether to go with one or not, 2 reviews, 1 good tother poor. Think I'd rather spend the dosh n get a quality ring, like the wolftooth. Just cleaned my bike today, noticed how little I use my inner ring, so 1x is definitely happenin.

If that's is of any help, I use a Superstar ring (110mm BCD /5 bolts CX old version), and didn't notice any difference with the Raceface NW I was using previously. Both worked as expected: no noise, no chain deraillements.
Not sure if the Sram or Wolftooth ones are that much better. -
• #5636
Did you mount it on the outer ring position or inner?
The wolftooth is offset so mounts on the outer, but gives a good chainline. -
• #5637
In my case it's mounted on the outside -- not that I have a choice: the chainset is older Rotor XC2 with 110mm for the big ring/74mm for the smaller one.
I just measured my chainline, it comes at 51mm. (Keep in mind that I use it on an old MTB with a 73mm bottom bracket shell). -

Ta. Will wait to hear back about the availability of the wolftooth, then make my decision.

Is yours ultegra 6800? Since I assume you're doing 1x setup, I'd recommend wolftooth because you can get perfect chainline.

First spot in the wild on a club mates bike yesterday; me gusta!
-
• #5641
Yep, 6800. That's why I am interested in the wolftooth. Waiting to hear back from Bens cycleworx to see if they can get me one.

Finally Shimano makes a front derailleur that works (and doesn't need a barrel adjuster)... I've built today a 9100 bike for the first time, impressed with all the new features.

So much better isn't it? I especially like how you can hide the cable in, and the cable tension adjuster, mean I can do away with a barrier adjuster between the handlebar and downtube/headtube.
Think Sora is the same too.

R3000 is well different, still pretty close to the conventional FR shimano design. The selling point in my opinion are the shifters, other than missing two clicks, I couldn't find any difference between them and 5800!
On the 9100 I was hugely impressed by the chain tensioner on the RD, you could keep the same chain length to run 11-28 and 11-30 (I dare to say even a 11-32 won't cause any issue), so you can swap cassette in a matter of minutes. Plus super short cable housing... so good!

I think this is the right place to post but ¯_(ツ)_/¯…
My wife recently got a road bike with 11 speed 105. I’m still on 10 speed with both of us using my turbo whilst it’s so chilly outside.
I know that 11 and 10 speed chains/cassettes are not compatible but in the instance where they’re being used on a ERG turbo (Wahoo KICKR) where you don’t need to change gear during a session is it possible to use one with the other?
I suspect I know the answer but it’s a faff to continually change the cassette on the turbo so hoping there’s a working solution that stops me from making excuses!

Yes you can (as long you adjust the derailleur to sit correctly on the one and only selected sprocket), but not advisable at all.
Major damage comes when 11 speed chain is on a 10 speed sprocket, it wears out much quicker that way.
Safer if you keep the 11speed cassette on the turbo. -
• #5647
11 speed chain on 10 speed cassette won't work great, but the main stumbling block will be finding a point where the chain won't skip on either cassette. I know this from experience.
-
• #5648
Surely the 11?
-
• #5649
11 speed chains on 10 speed chainrings/cassettes are absolutely fine: http://www.velonews.com/2016/01/bikes-and-tech/technical-faq/tech-faq-chain-width-explained-compatibility-queries-answered_392163

Reading the above it would seem that the easiest solution for turbo riding would be to leave the 11speed cassette on the turbo, replace my 10speed chain with a 11speed chain and adjust my rear mech to sit underneath the selected sprocket.
Bit of bother when I come to get back on the open road but perfect (or as near as I can make it without $$$) for the time being.
Searched chainrings, couldn't find what I was looking for, so asking here.
I'm after a 40t n/w chainring for ultegra, wolftooth do one, who stocks in uk, absolute black do one also, but not sure I need oval ring. Any thoughts?
