  • I usually try and ride it but I've got the Chiltern Grit 200 the day before so it depends what state I'm in after that.

This is the well-known Harp Hilly Hundred starting and finishing at the Hemel Hempstead CC Club House; for location map go to http://www.hemelcycling.org.uk/about/general-information/find-clubroom. This starts off following a similar route as the Hemel event through to Bovingdon then it takes on its own character taking on the hilly bits of the northern Chilterns through Berkhamsted, Whipsnade (the infamous Bison Hill) then onto Aston Hill near Halton and tracking back through Tring, Ivinghoe Beacon, Ley Hill to the Hemel clubroom for a well earned rest.

    Sunday 5th February
    Hemel Hempstead CC 100km & 50km (start 9 am)

HQ - Hemel Hempstead CC Clubroom

    For details contact:
    Tim Hart – 07867 501205
    tim.hart@hemelcycling.org.uk

This third reliability trial of the series starts and finishes at the Hemel Hempstead CC Club House in Nash Mills recreation centre, near Kings Langley, Hemel Hempstead, for location map see http://www.hemelcycling.org.uk/about/general-information/find-clubroom. This is a very attractive but testing route through the Chilterns which travels out through Chesham, Wendover and Chinnor returning through Speen, Gt. Missenden, Chesham, Kings Langley and back to the club house with refreshments. It is a hilly circuit climbing some of the well-known Chiltern Hills of Chinnor and the notorious 1 in 4, Small Dean Lane, a killer but mercifully short, also Frith Hill is included in the route. The 50 km route option turns short of Wendover returning through Chesham.

    Signing-on from 8:15 am.

    Sunday 12th February
    Edgware RC 100km & 45km (start 9 am)

HQ – Hemel Hempstead CC Club Room

    For details contact:
    Trevor Smith – 01442 257793
    treval@hotmail.co.uk

This is a great Reliability Ride through the Chilterns starting at the Hemel Hempstead CC Club House at Nash Mills Recreation Centre, near Kings Langley; for location map go to http://www.hemelcycling.org.uk/about/general-information/find-clubroom. The route travels through Piccotts End, Gadesdon Row, Stanbridge, Great Brickhill. Crossing the Grand Union canal to Soulbury onto Wingrave. Pass Mentmore going under the infamous Train Robbers Bridge to Slapton, Cublington, Wingrave, Ivanhoe Aston up Beacon Hill onto Northchurch, Ashley Green, Bovingdon and back to the Club House. A great 100 KM route for the Chiltern Classics. The 45 km route option goes to Dagnal then diverts to Ringshall then finishing on the same route as the 100 km.

    Sunday 19th February

    Willesden CC 100km & 50km (start 9:30am)

  • Good day out on the Harp Hilly Hundred. Lots of fast people - must have had about 50 riders overtake me. Decent day: quite mild and the rain held off until half way through the ride back.
Only entered this once before, five years ago. Then, I rode out too fast, didn't take enough food with me, and blew up so DNF'd - was good to make it round the full route this time!

  • Ccs reliability today. Great fun. A 46 mile route leabing great cornard for a tour of mid/south suffolk. Lead group averaged 22+mph. I was at the front until no body told me to turn left (no one knew the course even though we have all done it before) and i had to go round the green and chase. I did not get back on.

Next week is the west suffolk wheelers trial. 36, 50 or a 75 mile course. Done the long route so manh times and get lost every time. I am sure this year will be no different. If you fancy round west and mid suffolk on the 5th feb you could do worse than appear at shakers lane club house before 9am.

  • I did the HHH yesterday. First time for me and really enjoyed it. The weather was better than expected. I added a bit before and after to make it up to 100 miles, regretting that today.

  • Quite like the route. Done it a few times, riding out and back but not this year. I rode the Willy Warmer on Sat and couldn't be bothered with another 200k+ ride.

  • WSW Suffolk Punch is always a good event - well organised. Good route as well. Have a safe ride

  • Hi, Willesden Reliability Organiser here. I have just asked Hippy to change his post listing this year's rides as the details on it were completely incorrect about the Willesden Ride. Just to be clear it's on 19th February, starts from Chalfont St Peter and has a 50K and 100K Route only. Entries Are £8 online and £10 on the day. Full details at http://www.willesdencyclingclub.co.uk/calendar/reliability-rides/

  • On the Willesden 100 two hills, Kop Hill and Smalldean Lane will probably give fixies a walk. The 50K route is pretty benign.

  • Done

  • Smalldean was as step as ever this morning on the hemel h RR. Last time I did it they put on a picnic at the top of it, but not this year. Austerity strikes again! Nice day to be out though, and my legs went reasonably well

There was good cake at the end

  • I missed another one. I might not end up doing any the rate I'm going.

Save £2 to enter Willesden's Sunday Reliability:
    https://www.riderhq.com/events/72646/willesden-reliability-ride

I might ride out and do the 50k version as I've got to be elsewhere Sunday arvo.

  • I've entered the 100km one so may see you at the start. Looks like it will be a nice day.

  • I just emailed saying I might be able to help out, so if I'm registering people or something at the start I'll likely see you there. I'm going to do a long ride on Saturday to make up for it.

  • Save £2 to enter Willesden's Sunday Reliability

    See you there.

I gave Edgware's one a miss last weekend in protest as they were charging £15!

  • Sportive thread >>>

    :)

  • Bugger - physio has told me not to ride for a week to let knee and ankle niggles settle down. Just when the decent weather has come :-(

  • On the bright side, look at how this place has altered your perception of 'decent' weather. :)

  • Hey @frank9755 are you doing the Westerley this Sunday?

    http://www.cyclosport.org/event/14-Jan-2018/UK/westerley-winter-warmer-2018.html

Oh, just saw your name as organiser, so you'll be sat at the HQ eating all the cakes instead I take it?

  • That's right, I might nip out and do the short ride while everyone is out so I can work up an appetite.

14 places left, if anyone fancies it!

  • Oops, I've now seen I've got a 40th to go to the night before so I'm not going to enter this because I'll almost certainly not make the start. If I am alive in the morning I might pop in and see what's happening.

  • I know about the West series of RR's, but is there the equivalent for us SE of London?

  • I've not seen a series (west is best) but individual clubs run RRs, ie.
    Feb 4th: http://www.oldportlianscc.co.uk/

  • Good spot, I think I'll do that one.

Yeah, I like the Chiltern RR's, but they're just a bit too far to get to and back from.

  • Another one for those SE London is http://www.sydenhamwheelers.co.uk/ on 28th Jan.
