  • Would avoid putting them in the alcove if you can.

  • Its not going to fit, so you might as well give them to me

  • Just buy a bigger house. Sorted.

  • I want a house with a solid floor, that's for sure.

I have read that they are okay near walls - I guess I will have to try it and see (when the wife is out...)

can anyone lend me their soldering skills? I prob should try myself, but don't want to cock it up.

  • The curas are likely to be for sale, if you want...

  • NNNNG.

  • Out of interest - why a dj turntable?
(i had two, but sold them)

  • I read on a hifi forum about people making some fairly straight forward mods to them and them actually sounding pretty good. a guy was selling one cheaply (with most of the mods), so I thought I would have a go. I thought that I could easily sell it on for what I paid if it wasn't an improvement of the michell.

new arm/cart, an external psu and a modified main bearing, were the mods. the psu/bearing are actually quite expensive (more than I paid for the whole tt!). you can get new feet, new mats and if you are feeling flush a whole new platter (£££). I am pretty happy with it. I might try the feet, but I really need to stop spending and start selling...

  • These curas. Tell me more.

  • The sl1200 range is a lot better than most people assume. Even stock, with a reasonable cart it is pretty good.

As BRM says, with a few mods it can give a lot of "hi-fi" decks a run for their money, and it doesn't tend to fall apart after a few years either.

  • I sold mine because I got good price!

  • British made 2 way floorstanders from about 2000. Really well made and quite rare, they were pretty expensive new (about £1200, apparently!).

They sound great. Incredible midrange and treble, with tight bass. They don't do the bass like the tannoys, but that is 6.5" v 10" drivers.

I got them for a steal, so if you are interested, I won't want stupid money for them.

As I have said - you are welcome to head over to tressillian towers for a session. Bring biscuits.

  • First go at replacing some perished foam surrounds. Thankfully on my second/kitchen system. Pretty straightforward, just takes a while. Hardest part is making sure the cone is centered over the voice coil before gluing them down.

  • @BRM what soldering skills do you need?

    Also reply to my text!!

  • Good job. There is no way I'd attempt that.

  • I need to take off the spring clips on the tannoys and replace with binding posts. I need to be a big boy and do it myself. I need to make up a couple of speaker cables too.

I didn't ge a text from you, esse. Was it one of those iMessages?

  • Big African Sunset. We can both solder and have all the stuff.

  • Yeah probably. Fired you a PM

  • ^^Stupid imessages. Have just twigged that is why you didn't get my texts the other week.

  • For the re-foam I used a kit from here: http://speaker-repairs.co.uk/shop/refoam/index.html

Very good instructions actually made it a lot easier than I had expected tbh

  • Cool. I'll drop you a line when I back in London

  • Managed to get my Chromecast firmware updated with a different router. Now works again! Cheers for advice/links forum peeps

  • Nice one. That bug sounds so annoying.

  • That a top load washing machine?
