Audiophiles hifi appreciation thread old and new

just got one of these, onkyo A 9010 along with some 2nd hand 20 quid speakers and next a record player.
budget set up :)

The problem is I bought her a really cheap one off eBay ages ago, £10-sih. And it was so shit, there was a tiny background buzz that I couldn't get rid of. I checked the earth. The overall sound was very poor.
I've heard that the 'Little Bear' cheap ones you see on eBay are ok but now I'm reluctant to buy another one so cheap.

Don't suppose anyone has any of that cheap speaker cable knocking around?

I need to extend one of the speakers on my new mini system and I only have the beefy stuff (the cable is built into the speaker).

A quick read online says you should match the cable diameter as best as you can.

Ideally I don't want to have a load of excess left over either.

Eatons - 295HPDa - in white with blue grilles! a dude was clearing out a studio in soho - these were michael palin/monty python speakers, apparently. I have been wanting to try a pair for ages and couldn't say no.

can't really afford it either, so I am definitely going to have to sell on some gear now. I quite liked having a 2nd set up at my castle in the woods...
