I was kind of imagining something like this. Am mobile at the mo so can't see properly but is it for people who aren't idiots (others) or people who are technically idiots (me). I.e. do I need to do any coding or fun jiggery, do i need dev privileges with the app to run the app i'm after or can i just download and run any out shit out the box like having a dos emulator and playing space invaders or something?

Haven't used it for a while, but from what I remember the Emulator's dead easy.
-
• #18181
I need to get some data off the memory card, I'm assuming chances of this are next to zero? Sucks so hard...

Yeah, if the logic board is fucked then you may be SOL.

It's taught me a lesson, I'll use Keep as my audio notebook in future... Four months of song ideas down the toilet... đ

Ah shit dude âšī¸. Keep is really good - I rely on it a bit too much to the point that I'd be pretty fucked if they took it away.

I'm not getting new e-mail alerts any more, till I pick up my phone (ObePlus X, 6.0.1) then a whole batch come through.... late :-(
I've gone to Settings / Sounds & Notification / App Notifications, and set them all to Normal or Priority. But still no real-time notifications. Google has not been able to help.
It used to work fine. I did install ITTT (If This Then That, IIRC) to act as a Night Time DND feature but removed it.
Help, please ????

Have no idea, but uninstalling ITTT might not have removed the change that you made? Or only part of it. I would try re-installing it and seeing if you can re-do the changes you made and then turn them off again.
Are you getting other notifications fine? What email provider are you using?
-
• #18187
Thanks, I'll try the IFTTT re-install etc.
ALL my notifications are acting the same way, eBay, Gmail, Hotmail and others :-(

Rooting a MotoG - any one know of an idiot-proof guide?

I've just ordered a Pixel XL, mostly for the camera. Hopefully they've improved things in the couple of years I've been an Iphone user.

• #18190
Is that the tablet or the larger phone? I'm toying with following your lead if it's the latter. Handoff is great as is airdrop but trying to ween myself away from Apple exclusivity and the phone is getting solid reviews from people I know who have them.

It's the larger phone. Although I just got an email to call them and it turns out they don't have any of the 128gb ones in stock for at least a couple of weeks, maybe a month. I'm going to go in store and see if they have any in person.

• #18192
I said screw it and ordered a standard size Pixel. It's already got a bigger screen than my iphone and that barely fits in my jersey pocket.
-
• #18193
32Gb or 128Gb?
-
• #18194
I'm gonna hit up my mate on Friday and check out the Pixel discount sitch... Speaker on my N5 is dying, cracked screen, so ghetto... Shit...
Also gonna call LG tomorrow and find out how much it'll cost to replace the logic board, don't really wanna drop a ton of money on a phone right now ..
-
• #18195
128gb. I've got a 32gb phone at the moment and have over 20gb left, but when there's the option of one with 3 times the amount of storage it's hard not to take it.

Isn't it way more expensive tho'?
Whatever I do I'm gonna have to buy in Oz, no warranty when you buy from HK is shit...
-
• #18197
only a couple of extra quid per month.
-
• #18198
It's your 5x not under warranty still? Mine died last week and Google replaced it no problems
-
• #18199
I bought it from a company in Hong Kong, have heard terrible things about their customer service... I'm gonna take a hit on it I think...

Just realised after checking it was an Australian website, I may be OK after all!!
Just submitted a warranty query...
But I won't be holding my breath...
You can run an android OS over VM easily enough - I use one for various apps that have google framework dependencies.
