Damn, make a pen pot out of the headtube
-
• #303
Nice idea.
Or a flesh light.
-
• #304
Let's turn it in to a jousting bike
-
• #305
BB cluster works better.
-
• #306
Bottom bracket flesh light. Kinky.
-
• #307
You love it in your bottom bracket

Hiscox insurance are fully paying out for the bike imminently, in cash.
Which means I can seriously start shopping now :)
Finally this thread can end and I can move to focusing on the new.

Sad times. :(

If you can bring yourself to do it, you might consider submitting an account of this hit-and-run to the all-party parliamentary group, who are conducting an inquiry into "Cycling and the Justice System" - https://allpartycycling.org/inquiries/justice/
Deadline for submissions is January 16.
These are some of the issues that could be investigated:
Should there be greater priority of traffic law enforcement and’ road crime’ for all police forces?
Should police forces enforce 20mph speed limits, and speed reduction?
Should there be a revision of careless and dangerous driving charging standards
Should the ‘presumed liability’ civil compensation system be introduced?
Do police investigation, criminal prosecution, sentencing and inquests need reviewing?
How are prosecutors trained on the distinction between “careless” and “dangerous” driving?
Should there be more use of lengthy driving bans and resisting hardship pleas by the courts?
Should the DfT, Home Office and MOJ collaborate on collision and conviction data?
Should the Police and CPS be required to report on how they deal with road collisions?
Should there be a National Standards on collision investigation?
Should road crash victims be covered by the Victims’ Code?
Does the Highway Code need updating to reflect an increased duty of care on drivers?
Should there be a clearer definition of what is the standard of the competent and careful driver?
Should police forces/the CPS release the collision report when complete, and prior to conclusion of the criminal process? -

Already done.
Also enquired about being part of the APPCG and representing LFGSS on it... after all, with 50k+ members and 250k monthly visitors we actually represent a hugely significant number of cyclists whilst not being a lobby/campaign group with a fixed agenda.

• #314
with a fixed agenda
I see what you did there...
-
• #315
Surely the one thing this forum does have, is a fixed (and SS) agenda?
-
• #316
Doh.
-
• #317
I'd still ride it.
Want me to see how many commutes I can finish on it before it snaps totally?
-
• #318
There's a crack straight through the top of the top tube.
Pretty sure it's fecked in a not safe to ride way.
-
• #320
I tried to do this already
-
• #321
Yeah, but then he'll put at risk the few bits that are presently salvageable.
Quite happy with the thought of anyone having the frame and fork if they want, but it's not safe, it would be free, and I'll strip it of the rest first (most of the groupset will likely end up on my wife's bike).
-
• #322
Oooh I'd take the frame for free. I quite fancy the aforementioned bb shell pen pot.
-
• #323
And you understand this is Titanium and you'll have to cut it as well as heat up and unglue things to get at it?
Hmm.
Maybe we should work on a different question, is there any framebuilder who wants the frame and fork with the intention of turning it into multiple little pen pots or things.
I honestly wouldn't mind a pen pot of the head tube and head badge as I really loved that bike.
-
• #324
Yep I know that. If someone professional wanted to make something of it like you mentioned then that'd be great. But I would like it if its otherwise going to scrap. I like little projects for rainy days.
-
• #325
I'll PM you re this...
A little more than cautionary in this case. The crack is clear and visible and cuts across most of the top tube.
Probably going to landfill. I've no space to hang it and will be salvaging whatever components are definitely fine so the bike won't remain complete even in it's present state.
