Paper girls is really good.
Managed to get a 1st print of Klaus, and am enjoying that, but seems odd to have a father Christmas origin story (in 6 parts) and only get 2 out before Christmas. Also got Wytches tp1, liking it so far. Turns out I have become a Scott Snyder fanboy now (love his Barman stuff)

Threaddredge...
Snowpiecer/Transperceneige (my French isn't good enough so Le Manfriend got me the English ones, Transperceneige sounds awesomer)
Epic reads, definitely worth it. Very European in many ways (hard to explain) with comments on the class system, technology as a living vessel (the train) and humanity. Combination of grim with hope (not so much the first one that's mostly grim but 2 and 3 pick up in mood) and super artwork.

The movie is good too, despite what the purist knobulons might tell you.

Actually enjoyed it, there's even a tv series coming soon.

Reading Batman The Long Halloween, didn't realise how much of The Dark Knight was influenced (ripped directly out of) LH it was. Really bloody good.

The movie made no sense. SPOILERish If they were eating people, sure. But it was just processed spiders. Pfft.

Klaus has a 1 shot out, and it's pretty poor. The original arc was great, but this was not

The Boys: Garth Ennis. Violent as befuck, can't stop reading though.
Preacher, also from him is also great. He's from Northern Ireland BTW we don't just do bonfires n shit here, unfortunately the comic scene here is tiny. They have a few meetups though.
The TV series, dunno, it's not bad but not as deep.
I'm not hating it, but if you've already read the comic it's a bit meh despite Ruth Neggah and some very smart shots/reworks. -

Just read the first 4 Boys books, loving them. Tried the first Preacher book too, wasn't grabbed as much, but will try at least one more.
Also picked up Crecy by Ellis (well, I was in the 'E' section) - that's a helluva beautiful piece - a one-off account of the Battle of Crecy from an English archer's pov. Worth much re-reading.

Humble Bundle are doing an Image at 25 bundle, well worth a look at, loads of issue 1s for the low end a fair few Vol1+2 when you get to the 20£+ end. All for a good cause.

The Wicked and Devine: A comic about fandom with an interesting premise.
The colouring is very nice, I normally don't like digital illustrator-style colour but great job here.
It doesn't speak to me as much as Snowpiecer/Preacher/The boys/Metabarons but I think that says more about me than the book, give it a read :)

I got the first volume (trade print) and really couldn't get into it at all. Might give it another go.
I did just get Wytches on Imagine. That was brilliant.

Only a year after your post but have you tried 30th Century Comics in Putney for a wide range of cheap 2nd hand Comics or Krypton Komics in Walthamstow?

Just start from volume 1, get into the context of the world and build up to Apocalypse War, which is in 2 or 3. Standalones, maybe Cursed Earth or Chopper in Oz.
Missed this reply.
I'm heading up on the Saturday. Will search out the Lumberjanes while I'm up there.
