ha, mine for the wife arrived yesterday
the V1 you need to put spacers in to adjust the depth to which it sweeps, i think the V2 is better, but fuck it's pricey.
she better appreciate it - my distribution is fine but i think i may get some benefit from this

@StevePeel
Would you be in a position to fix and service this little Elektra Microcasa if I purchased & picked it up?
Although I don't know anything about it, it looks visually pleasing.
I imagine that the parts will be expensive. And slow-ish to get hold of. #italianproblemshttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Elektra-Microcasa-a-Leva-Espresso-Coffee-Machine-Vintage-/192058892912

Hello mate, no sorry, i'm not really in a position to give time to that - really wouldn't be economical for you either. If you wouldn't fancy taking the job on yourself then its probably best to avoid it. However, it does look fairly simple - buy a new sightglass, surround and gauge from Elektra and bolt it all together. Run a load of citric acid solution through it, see what leaks, mend those and you're done.

Thank you for the advice - I have emailed the guy but he says that he received offers over is £190 listing price, which is weird because you would just hit the BIN button...
Anyway, I told him I would contact him next week to check if he still has it. If he does, I will get it and do a little restauration project

Cool. Good luck.
-
• #12263
To be honest, I would go anywhere near that. The description and conditions of sale just trigger too many alarm bells.

• #12264
Someone else hit the BIN button so will be dealing with the problem fixing!

There is a Rocket Espresso BOXER One Group Compact Commercial Coffee Machine on Gumtree at the moment. Only used once.
They are £3k on Bellabarista. The person is after £750 negotiable which is almost too good to be true.
@StevePeel Should I Invest and store it until I buy a new flat and plumb it in properly? Or is it just not worth it?
Sorry to be a pain, I will get you a bottle of Champagne as a thank you for all your help

Ok, so before i resort to the dremel is there any point?
Group head gasket (it's solid and very brittle) on the Gaggia Classic and the shower plate holder are stuck solid.
I'm losing patients and am ready to admit defeat. Google has been a great help so far.
I Knew I should have done this about 3 years ago. (it's been in storage. -

Have you tried powering on to heat machine then trying to remove (obv being careful as it'll all be very hot)?

Caffeine might not be the right treatment for them?

I would, but it's in lots of bits. Hoping a good soak in boiling water may help. Seal is now removed, it came out in many many pieces.

I'm heading down to Bristol for the day, where is the best coffee at? Thx
-
• #12274
Hi Vince, sorry I missed this.
Yes, if you have the space for a huge 1 group then a fully plumbed in commercial would be my choice. Boxers are good, the steam wands often need replacing if they've been wrenched around by unsympathetic staff. Decent price that depending on condition, but the advert has disappeared.

Full court press for most choice on Broad Street. Small Street espresso on small street is a nicer cafe but only have one house espresso, one guest and one filter. If you're in Clifton, tradewind on whiteladies is my favourite, but wainwrights on regents street is OK..
This is in reply to the Bristol question to be clear.
I'm a sucker for a gadget and as my GF and I are buying new living room furniture in lieu of chrimbo presents this year I decided to treat myself to the ONA o.c.d v2 to try and improve my shot consistency as I still get some horrific channeling sometimes and as I tend to make coffee when I only have time to make it once I end up drinking some terrible coffees first thing before work.
It arrived yesterday but was too busy to use it until today. it's definitely about 3x more expensive than it should be but after I figured out how to adjust it (apparently all that money is not enough to include any instructions at all) and realised you twist counter clockwise THEN clockwise to flatten the final lumps it actually works really well. in fact after my first shot I had to reduce the dose by a few .1g and step the grinder back a notch to get the shot time back into the 22-32 second mark.
made 3 coffees so far and each has come out near perfect.
my one regret is I didn't check to see if they had the v1 before I ordered the v2 as that would have been just as adequate for my needs and looks a bit better imo and would have saved me €50. lives and learns. Now I'm contracting I'll be working from home a lot more so eventually the investment will bear out on buying coffees from coffee shops even if it takes a good few months.
